Only my third thread post,so be gentle.
Did John Kerry break state and federal law during his goose hunt? All of the photos I've seen DO NOT show a "tag" attached to any goose.Ohio state, and therefor federal, law requires that all migratory game birds that you have killed, but are not in posession of,be tagged with pertinent information.John Kerry said he was "Too lazy" to carry his own bird.If that goose did not have a tag, then I submit that Kerry is violation of state and federal law.
Tagging:No person shall give, put,or leave any migratory game birds at any place OR IN THE CUSTODY OF ANOTHER PERSON unless the birds are tagged by the hunter with the following information:(1)the hunters signature;(2)the hunters address;(3)the total number of birds involved,by species;and(4)the dates such birds were killed. No person or business shall receive or have in custody any migratory game birds BELONGING TO ANOTHER PERSON UNLESS SUCH BIRDS ARE PROPERLY TAGGED.
DUAL VIOLATION.Violation of state migratory bird regulations is also a violation of federal regulations.
Here's what I think happened:
Kerry didn't bag a goose at all.
Kerry asked someone else if he could carry their goose out for the photo-op.
That person, aware of the law, explained it to Kerry.
So, Gooseless Kerry just said he was "too lazy" to carry his.
OTOL Maybe Kerry didn't shoot the bird. Maybe the person carrying it was the actual hunter......Kerry just went along to observe....Remember no press was allowed near. (p.s. pass it on!)
There's another thread here on this somewhere. I posted the same regulation as you did but the goose hunters said it's not enforced.
hhhmm! We're thinking on the same lines....Logical explanation.
Love your name...he's a traitor too but no one has done anythibng about that either!
You would hope a judge wouldn't follow the law?
Some laws are stupid and shouldn't be enforced. Or do you believe that judges should enforce all laws on the books to the letter of the law and to their fullest extent?
Who decides which laws are stupid?
Ah, the old answer a question with a question tactic. It was a simple yes/no question. Please answer.
I do, but only when those laws are detrimental to liberals...;>)
Did Kerry even have a hunting license?
As much as I'd love to nail him, I'd hate to see it on such a bad law.
No, wait. I'd love to see it on such a bad law, so he can get rid of it. The polticians seem quicker to act when it's their problem.
I don't think it counts if the birds were already dead before any shot was fired. We all know that Kerry didn't shoot anything, he can't even throw a baseball for God's sake and it takes more coordination to nail a goose in flight.
Laws are for the little people....
Ah,the old, some laws don't really need enforcing tactic.
The law is the law. It's up to us to know and follow them or vote for change,so yes,the law should be followed.
If someone checks they may find that he didn't even bother to get a hunting license.
look a little further in the reg - is there a clause stating it doesnt have to be filled out until you return to camp or your vehicle ?
Oh, was that the "Can I gits me a huntin' license here?"
Rush played a clip of Kerry requesting his license at a sporting goods store. So,yes he did have a license.
Yup..dats der won...
No.You are no longer in "posession" the moment you hand someone else your bird.I was an avid waterfowl hunter at one time.Hence my screen name.
He's never hunted before (as you can tell by the way he holds his rifle), so he probably couldn't hit one. I never heard of anybody not bagging and tagging - unless they had none.
We the people, actually.
Only the Princes in our government have been power-grabbing at will.
Looking at those pictures, am I the only one that noticed he;
Had no mud on his clothes or his shoes(he was wearing no boots, something strange for a bird hunter)
While the guy carrying the bird had mud..
Except if you are a Democrat and want the option of voting via provisional ballots in several different counties.
Then no law, state or federal, applies.
It's pretty simple, really.
Question for you.
Was it Canada Geese they shot yesterday? Were they on state or federal property?
I'm curious, because up here in Northern Ohio, we have a hellacious Canada Geese problem, but if you kill them or harm their eggs, you get nailed on federal charges.
Everyone kept saying they hit Canada Geese, but I think the media is confused about that.
Yes he did, but he's been practicing breaking Federal laws since 1971.
The gun thing really stuck out at me.
He is holding it like little girls hold their first guns in Ohio and West Virginia - it's for safety, and a law.
However, most seasoned hunters don't even bother (another unenforced law) because they've been hunting for decades - you can tell by the way he was walking with it that he probably never touched one before. There may be something more "off" with it, but this was so glaring - even the guys he was with didn't even bother with the pretense of the "safety" crap - nobody does.
Well, being that you live in Alabama, I hope you have notified the local authorities that next Sunday massive violations of the law banning the wearing of masks in public are going to occur and you expect them to uphold the law, arrest, and prosecute the violaters.
And being that you have a daughter, I hope you do not allow her to willfully violate the law.
Also, I hope you never violate the ever important law banning the playing of Dominos on Sunday.
And if you wife ever goes to Mobile, make sure she doesn't wear pumps with high, sharp heels. That would be against the law.
And, since I am from NC, here are some laws in serious need of enforcement in NC...
Forest City NC: You must stop and call City Hall before entering town in an automobile. This is so the townspeople will have time to go out and hold their horses until you get through town.
NC State Law: It is illegal to sing off key
Another state law: All couples staying overnight in a hotel must have a room with double beds that are at least two feet apart. Making love in the space between the beds is strictly forbidden.
Now, what were you saying about judges enforcing all laws to their fullest extent?
How would the warden know that he didn't shoot over the legal limit unless the goose was tagged?Happens all the time.Someone shoots over the limit and tries the "it's my friends goose,duck,whatever...."
That's how The Snob thinks "regular folk" talk.
Yes,it was Canada geese.
How is that legal?
Unless we're being lied to up here.
I'd love to beat the crap out of him for violating a federal law, but I know that is only in my dreams...
Hey magician. Please make yourself disappear from this thread.
A response from someone unable to defend their position.
There is a season for Canada goose hunting.During this time, you are allowed to kill Canada geese. However, all migratory birds are federally protected. From Mourning Doves to Cananda Geese. This means that the federal government sets the dates of these hunts and rules and regulations that hunters must follow.
Actually I fully believe it. I live in Mahoning County, Ohio and Kerry went with Rep. Ted Strickland, who is the (D) rep. for both part of Mahoning and Columbiana and a bunch of other rural counties. The only way Strickland got elected instead of a Republican was because he was a hunter, and a moderate. South of Mahoning is very rural, moral-based areas. Kerry went with Strickland thinking maybe some of his gun-protection voters would take note. Unfortunately this is the way politics works. However, no better than Bush having the press over to watch him cut wood in his back yard.
You don't have to tag farm raised Geese. Look at the thing. it is fat, and has a fat neck. Wild geese aren't fat, and don't have big fat necks. They just flew 2000 miles from the acric for Gods sake. Does that look like a tired exausted goose?Wild geese have thinner, longer necks.
Have you ever saw a goose land in a corn field of standing corn? Pictures speak a thousand words. The trouble is, most people don't hunt, so they don't notice these things.
I do not need to defend anything. You are simply trolling.
This is an old ploy tried by those that want to get their game home without using their tag. I don't hunt geese but if you don't tag your deer immediately and you get caught, you are in for trouble.
Further evidence that you can't defend your position.
Next thing your going to tell me is that there is no such thing as a "victimless crime."
I contend there is.
