These polls fail to register the large number of undecided Democrats there will be on November 3rd.

IMHO they'll be called BUSH DEMOCRATS after Nov 2.

They could easily be decided but just don't want to tell some pollster who.

Zogby will play it straight from here on out. His last week numbers will be as true as can be. He knows that he'll be evaluated for accuracy on this last week before the election.

It is possible that a significant number of undecideds are not undecided between Bush and Kerry, but undecided if they will vote for Bush or a third option such as Constitution Party, writing in Tancredo, or staying home. We need all those votes to overcome fraud. We can use all the borderlline retarded too.

I don't know. If my dad were polled he'd either decline to participate or he'd declare himself to be undecided because he doesn't think it's any of anyone's dammed business to know who he's voting for. I suspect some of the undecideds may be like my dear old dad.

In point of fact, we could tell who the campaigns really think is ahead by seeing which of them tell the undecided to stay home.

Maybe the undecideds are unhappy with Bush but are beginning to see that Kerry would be much, much worse than Bush in just about every way.

This is good news. Because the Democratic mantra lately has been that Kerry will win, despite trailing in the polls because the undecideds with break for Kerry en masse. If that is untrue, Kerry will not be able to win.

I think Zogby is beginning to play it straight. His numbers have been skewed toward sKerry by about 4+ points all along. So far, he has only made the gradual swing toward Bush by about 2 points. If Zogby has Bush by 3 today, figure that he will show Dubya up by 5-7 by election day. Just MHO.

Mort is a Democrat. For him to be undecided is very very good.

Mort Kondracke is a Democrat, but he chokes when he thinks of Kerry who is somewhere between Socialist and Communist claiming to be a Democrat. I don't think Mort will be able to cast his vote for John Kerry because Mort's heroes were Scoop Jackson and Hubert Humphrey not Madam Binh, Uncle Ho, and Uncle Vlad.

Oh my gosh if you are still undecided you are borderline retarded.

No the undecided are people that in procranstating on growing up and coming to grips with the cold reality of the world... Kerry offer a fantasy that 911 didn't happen that it can all go away...Bush is telling people it's post 911 and we got to deal with it and it a road filled with blood, sweat and tears... but that where we must go

Let be honest Kerry is offering a to go back the Clinton Fri night drunk ... and Bush it's telling people it's Sat. morning time to sobering up clean up the house, and gut out the hangover

Undecided usually break for the incumbent. It generally takes more effort to decide for change than to decide on the status quo, people that are still undecided don't put a lot of effort into decision making, so they break towards the status quo.

Someone on Fox just quipped that anyone who is undecided at this late date is unlikely capable of finding a place to vote let alone casting a ballot.

I wouldn't count on it. These are the people the Dems pick up in a big bus, drive to the polls, give a quick lesson on who to vote for (except when they screw up the instructions like they did in FL last year), and then take out to celebrate at an "after-the-vote" party.

There is "conventional wisdom" that says that the undecideds will break for a challenger. The belief is that they want change and that's why they don't already support the incumbent. But, Pat Caddell says that the undecideds will break for the incumbent during a time of war; change is suddenly not desirable.

Undecided usually break for the incumbent.

That's not the story I've heard. Undecideds usually break for the challenger, as they did in 2000, because they already know the incumbent. If they can't bring themselves to support a known quantity by election day, they often decide to chance the challenger.

But, I agree that it may be different this year because even Kerry's supporters don't like Kerry...
