Schilling Urges Voters To Choose Bush On Morning Show

CONCORD, N.H. -- Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, who urged people to vote for President George W. Bush on a national television show Thursday, will appear with the president on Friday in New Hampshire, a campaign spokeswoman said.

At the end of his interview about his team's World Series victory on ABC's "Good Morning America," Schilling signed off: "Tell everybody to vote. And vote Bush next week."

The president congratulated the Red Sox' owner and president by phone -- and thanked Schilling for his support.

Schilling won Game 2 of the World Series and Game 6 of the American League Championship series despite a torn tendon sheath in his right ankle that will require surgery.

He is scheduled to appear with Bush at rallies in Manchester and Portsmouth on Friday, campaign spokeswoman Maria Comella said.

Gulp...as a Yankee fan, I must say, it's becoming very difficult to not like this guy.
I faced the same dilemma for about ... 2 seconds ...1 second for when he beat the Yankees in the World Series while pitching for the AZ Dbacks and another second for this year...but that is all wiped out by his endorsement of Bush...I will always be a Yankees fan, but I now have a very healthy respect for Curt Shilling... (not to mention he's a very good pitcher; gotta give him credit; Cashman/Boss are you listening? get this guy!!!)

Dream On!

Curt knows that his heroics are cemented in perpetuity in Bosox lore.
He'll NEVER stain that status by donning a Yanqui Uni!

He's also said, in so many words, that he wanted to go to Boston to beat the Yankees. Whatta guy! He's definitely going to be remembered with Teddy Ballgame, Foxx, Yaz, Dewie and Pedro among the all-time greatest Sox.

As a devoted Yankee fan, still in mourning, I feel compelled to all of the sudden congratulate Mr. Schilling. I'm glad he's on our side along with A-Rod, Torre, Steinbrenner and the rest!

I also forgot Bruce Hurst, who almost managed to carry the Sox on his arm in the '86 WS. As sorry as I felt for myself when they lost, I felt worse for him, because he left everything on the field in that series.

As for Schilling going to the Evil Empire, nope, it ain't gonna happen. I think he enjoys driving Steinbrenner even more insane than he already is. ;^)

Where does Curt Schilling live? Does he vote in Massachusetts? I would love for him to run against Edward Whore (er Moore) Kennedy in 2006.

Pros: Born in Alaska, WWII history buff, runs a publishing company, great pitcher who will be Hall of Fame (when? not son enough!), and supports Bush.

When I subscribed to the GEnie online network in the early 90s, Curt was quite active on the wargaming forums during the off season. It took me a while to realize that the online Curt Schilling and the famous ballplayer were the same guy. He was always very outgoing and polite. It was a pleasure to talk with him about one of our common hobbies, and I gained a large amount of respect for him back then. Recent events have only increased that.

Curt, if you're a Freeper and reading this, I'd just like to wish you congratulations. You've earned every bit of the success that has come your way.

I was rooting for the Yanks too, but you have to admire a guy like Schilling, who comes up big when it matters, injury or no injury. The Yankees screwed up in letting him go the Sox. Somehow, NY has to get Randy Johnson under contract for the next season.

Hell yea, me too......but most athletes are for Bush anyways..

Schilling is so hot right now with BoSox fans, I honestly think he could swing NH to Bush
