Wrong Direction and Morale Values
RPT

Posted on 11/04/2004 10:22:45 AM PST by Many Sad Democrats

I am seriously troubled with some of the leading indicators of the reason so many voted for Bush. I am troubled about how the people’s feelings are being spun in the media and by the Democrats. Believing that most voters who stated moral values and wrong direction guided their voting was because of the gay marriage amendments is a seriously flawed argument. The real reasons Americans feel that the country is going in the wrong direction is because of our eroding moral values. The reasons are much more nuanced than just wanting to defend traditional marriage. They are also more obvious to most of Americans not living in the progressive 5% of America that is called Blue. I am not particularly religious and not totally enamored with what the Bush administration has done the past four years – some things could have been done differently for better or worse. To me, Senator Kerry did not demonstrate that he would be a better president and he did not demonstrate any values that I could relate to in any way. Many things bother me about my country but it is still the greatest country in the world and I am very happy that so many people with so many different beliefs came forward to vote based on their moral values. Here are some indicators of why I think America is heading in the wrong direction and we are losing our moral values. I think that many of these issues ring true to 59 million other Americans.

Affirmative action – we are all equally American Anti- religious fervor in all aspects of American life Bush haters Caring about what other countries think of America Celebrity activism Congressional gridlock by the minority party Congressional Pork by all parties Denial that Iraq is part of the War on Terror Denigrating tax cuts for EVERY American who pays taxes Draft rumors Drug company influence and the high price of medicinal drugs Flag burning Forgetting what really happened on 9/11 Incessant blame of President Bush for all our country’s problems Integrity and character matter Judicial Activism Knowing what a war hero really is Loss of personal responsibility and accountability Michael Moore activism and people who believe it Obvious liberal bias in the media and the flagrant denial of this bias Obvious lies PACs and lobbiests influencing Congress Pandering to minorities Partial birth abortion is disgusting Party talking points Political correctness Rights for criminals Searching old ladies at the airport because it’s not fair to racially profile our real enemies Sensationalization of celebrity trials The attempt to redefine marriage between a man and a woman The attempt to remove the word God from the Pledge of Allegiance Two party elitism, but especially liberal elitism Worrying about Arab sensitivities

I don't think the reasons given can be taken in full value. The entire exit polling event is tainted. So we really have no honest answer to who voted and why, by age, category, reason, etc.

You have to search little old ladies.

You have to search infants.

Terrorists can EASILY plant an explosive on an innocent person.

Please take that off your list, now that you know how dangerous it would be to not search everyone.

Dude, let 'em spin on this. This is not a situation where spinning the story gains them anything. What they need right now is the cold water of honesty and they refuse to look at the truth. This is good for our side. Democrats will conclude that they weren't leftist enough and will swerve even harder left. More average people will be turned off by their socialist agenda and will report that the country is going in the wrong direction. They did this in 2004 and ended up putting forward a horribly leftist candidate this time.

The bottom line is that kool-ade democrats think everyone else is stupid, that they alone possess a kind of sophisticated, urban understanding that everyone else should bow down to. They will never be able to appeal to average people by talking down to us. We have far more common sense and BS vision than they give us credit for. Like I said, this is good for our side.

Here's the hopeful lesson though, despite all the lies, dirty tricks and help of the media Americans did the right thing.

Despite common perception its tough to fool Americans too long.

I get sick and tired of radical, abortion extremists acting as if I am intellectually inferior because I am pro-life. I get sick and tired of radical, abortion extremists pretending that the term “Intact D&X” more accurately describes the killing of a partially born baby than the term “partial birth abortion.” I get sick and tired of having the gay lifestyle thrown in my face. Hey, I don’t throw my heterosexuality in their faces. They can do what they want in the privacy of their bedrooms, but they don’t need to insist on shoving it in my face. I get sick and tired of being called a racist because I oppose racial quotas. I get sick and tired of being called a racist because I oppose illegal immigration.

This election would have been a landslide had a few last minute events not occurred. The explosives article, the osama tape, and last minute lies by the DNC including the exit polls swayed a group of voters. Here in PA a last minute radio commercial that featured a question, supposed to be from one of the debates, about health insurance being up something like 67% and a response from Pres. Bush saying "I hope its not the administrations fault and a giggle". Problem is I went through the debate texts and could not locate it. Doesn't mean it wasn't there, I just could not find it. I went to moveon.org's web site and could not find any record of it there either. They were supposed to be the sponsor.

Because the new liberals don't have real moral values, they insist that their veiws on employment, education, and international policy are moral values. They are clueless

I was thinking the same thing when Willie Schneider of CNN was giving his spin of the numbers. In light of the fact that the exit polls were so horrifically wrong, how can we accept at face value the "information" they purport to provide.

BTW, a few months ago Schneider actually said that While Bill Clinton could not be elected president again, he could be on the ticket as the VEEP. I wrote him a "kind" e-mail directing him to the 12th and 22nd Amendments. Astonishing that such an ignoramus could be CNN's "senior" political analyst.

Right on...there are hundreds of reasons but don't confuse the moral values reason as being solely religious.

I am a gay, agnostic who voted for Bush and values was one reason. I believe integrity and honesty in a leader is a minimum requirement, qualities that Kerry just doesn't have.

While I disagree with the far right's opinion of me and my partner I'll continue to support the GOP, just keep my distance from the radical right. By the way, I'll vote against them if they continue to try to suppress my quest for Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

I believe that the vote was a reaction to the use of legislation and activist courts to force "progressive" change upon areas where traditional values are deeply and passionately held.

(I see this all the time in environmental regulation in the sense of a conflict between individual private property rights and a socialist community vision/sustainability.)

This is crisis is partly a function of centralized government and the increasing trend of the Congress and the State government to attempt to regulate all aspects of our life. Decentralization and local control of regulation would allow disparite world views to co-exist and thrive.

Right now, the game is whomever can claw their way to the top of the pile in power can dictate the rules and force them upon everyone else.

The last I heard was that the exit polls were not wrong, per se, but that their results had to be looked at when voting was over, not in small sections throughout the day.
