Disillusioned Yanks eye NZ (No, US liberals, don't come here - go to Canada or France please)

Inquiries from Americans wanting to move to New Zealand have "exploded" since George W Bush was re-elected president.

The Immigration Service's website had 10,300 hits from the United States the day after the election. Usually it gets 2500 hits a day.

And the phones of its US marketing directors in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, have been ringing nonstop since the election.

Marketing director Don Badman said there had been up to 300 telephone calls and emails a day.

"We've been doing this for 11 months and it's been building up to about six to eight calls a day, but from Thursday it's exploded. It really started picking up from 11pm the night of the election."

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that many Americans were inquiring about moving to New Zealand, Australia and Canada as a result of the election.

A Canadian website is reaching out to help weary liberal Americans, asking Canadians to marry someone from south of the border.

"Open your heart and your home. Marry an American. Legions of Canadians have already pledged to sacrifice their singlehood to save our southern neighbours from four more years of cowboy conservatism," jokes the site, set up by a Toronto humour magazine.

To convince Americans to come on up, the site mentions that Canada is a liberal utopia with universal health care and, in some provinces, gay marriage.

"We envision a movement where everyone wins: Freedom of expression and a politically convenient marriage with love and igloos for all."

And worst of all, they will discover once they get here, that the Pat Buchanan paleoconservative movement is much stronger than back "home". Our paleocon (Winston Peters) reoutinely gets 5% support and once they come here in droves I guarantee they will shore up Winston's support to 18% (it happened before).

Before long they will be horrified to see the paleocon becomes the kingmaker in the next pariamentary session. (courtesy of Westminster system of government and proportional representation in election)

Let's face it, you Kiwis are doomed.

No one can resist the onslaught about to be waged by hundreds of appeasement-minded, limp-wristed North American liberals.

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

It's not easy for them to get into Canada either, unless they got tons of money, or a needed job skill, and a sponsor. (Most of those sponsors prefer arepublican)
The favorite spots for them are in southern Ontario or Vancouver, both of those places, while a bit warmer, are already saturated with welfare, crime, and high deficit governments, and a hodge podge of other immigrants. Vancouver isn't that nice of a place anymore, and decent housing is very expensive. Alberta is booming, but it's conservative town, not the ideal place for a democrat. the prairies have basicly voted out all the liberals as well. Plus it's way too cold for a southerner. Also not a cheap place to live either.
The real fact is, North America is getting less lefty liberal, even in Canada social programs are getting chopped left and right because they are just too costly, and poorly run.

Most liberals have no marketable skills so why would a great state like NZ want to take them in to suck off their teat? It is informative however that the great "conservative" TSH in Boston, Jay Severin, has said in the past that the only other place in the world he could live would be NZ. I checked one time, about ten years ago, about the kind of professionals they needed and speech and language pathologists seemed to top the list, My wife just so happens to be licenced and certified and we thought about it, for about a half a glass of wine.

2) There is no help from government in finding work. And if you speak with too thick American accent (rolling r's) Kiwis won't welcome you to work.

Ah, there's the rub... I'm sure most of these American Libs were imaging New Zealand was a bit more socialized, and counting on a little more help from the government. And even if a NZ employer got past the accent, they'd quickly tire of having a whining Marxist on staff...

Very astute questions that you pose.....
Could we possibly help these disaffected people to find their utopia?
AH, Yes......Belarus?...Cuba?...North Korea?...
Wait!...Why are all these malcontents trying to emigrate to white, safe, beautiful lands, such as New Zealand?
Obvious answer.......NO BLACKS!!!!!!!

Another thing these American libs don't know is that Kiwis left and right don't tolerate frivolous torts very well - they regard this as one typical nasty Americanisms. Since libs are more likely to be tort-minded than conservatives (I guarantee more than 2/3 of lawyers and clients who initiate frivolous torts in the States are liberals) they would quickly run into hot water.

That's another thing, the American left are in a unique lefty world all their own. They don't even fit in with other world 'lefties'. there are no frivolous law suits in Canada either. In fact, Bush's torte reforms lean much towards what Canada has. The left in the USA just aren't grounded in reality.
I doubt we will see many of these whiners going anywhere, especially Canada. Winter is about to plop it's 10 feet of snow down, and the thermometer is heading down.
Most Canucks are heading south with the geese.

Sigh, most Liberals can't make a big move like this without a base. Since most are 'jibber jabbers', a move like this is flat out against their cowardice make-up. Don't get me wrong, I am sure there will be some that move and I welcome them to depart with their anti-American views, but the large numbers reporting are misleading. This phenomenona is just their need for attention. Trust me, all of this will die-down and we soon will unfortunately be hearing their rant for Hitlary in '08.

I know this will be controversial but I propose that one of the first things Bush dose is work for a small tax increase to help relocate liberals somewhere outside of the USA. All in the name of reaching out to the losing party and giving them a helping boot errr hand.

Those moving there will have to fit in, unless they are moving with their money and live off it. Given that the whining lefties are mostly in antillectual professions, the question becomes: how many of their kind and ilk could be ever accommodated in a small country like NZ [if it ever wishes to take them, of course]?

Nonsense! New Zealand doesn't need engineers and scientists! They need people trained in decontructionist literature, feminist poetry, urban anthropology, and book store clerks! /s

New Zealand still hasn't forgiven us for sending them Carol Mosley-Braun as US ambassador.

You got that right. These potential immigrants will be in for a rude awakening if they think they can take a paid year off of work when they stub their toe in the break room...

One of my favorite chants I was yelling through a bullhorn at a rally in Santa Moncia was "Hey hey...ho ho...a cowboy, not a gigolo." When I told it to Larry Elder on the air, he almost lost it.
