Be prepared to get some sand in your eyes over this one...
God bless, protect and preserve our troops as they do the hard work of freedom.
We shouldn't be fighting this war just to "defend" ourselves. The threat needs to be crushed. That way they can come home and rest.
BTTT
In the mean time, we are making sure the threat does not arise like a Phoenix in those countries by helping them reach for and obtain their endowment of freedom. Establishing free nations there is the greatest stake in the heart of the radical islamic terrorists imaginable...and they know it. That's why they are fighting it so hard.
Too bad they have so many abettors in this nation.
But truth and right shall prevail...and they will be helped on immensely by the faith, support, hard work and prayers of those of us here at home.
Thanks so much bro...hope things are well by you. Know that there are prayers for you and yours rising up from here in Idaho.
How moving! I was watching it while watching "We Were Soldiers" on TV. Do you think I think I flooded the room with tears?
Ours is a military family, but no one is active duty now except one son who is a Recruiter. I'm a volunteer for the Red Cross on an Army base and am going to put this website on our computers there. We do presentations to encourage other volunteers to serve the troops. It will make a great addition to our program.
I see our wonderful, bright, intelligent, brave service men and women almost every day. I have to curb the urge to reach out and hug every one of them. But I always tell them "Thank you, and may Angels watch over you." Some have returned from Iraq only to go back again. It is awe-inspiring to hear them talk about the spirit and determination of all the troops.
The battle we experienced with the past election could never have been fought had it not been for our servicemembers' - past and present- who ensure this freedom. I never forget that when I look into their faces.
I have a small picture of a uniformed Marine standing proudly in front of a flag. I have no idea who he is, it is a generic picture, but it is on my nightstand beside my bed. Each night I look at that picture, touch it, and say "God Bless." I encourage you to do the same. You will sleep peacefully thereafter.
Thank you so much for this wonderful link.
Thank you for planning to include the site from this link on your computers. I know it will move others to greater faith and more prayer.
Best Fregards!
Every time John Kerry and his comrades belittled Ayad Allawi, I thought about Saddam's 1978 assassination attempt that left him with a permanent limp.
There must be thousands like him in the mideast, and they do deserve our support. On the other hand, we should not let ourselves be misled into thinking that our ideology can hold much sway over pan-Arab nationalism. Fascist cultural identity and personal freedom are not necessarily mutually exclusive.
There are millions watching the al Arabiya and al Jazeera news broadcasts and wishing for the freedom to dismantle America's leverage in the world. It would be naive to think that "freeing" these people will assuage that blood lust. As access to a free press has increased in the mideast, so has hatred for America.
Failure to recognize the potential for "free" people to hate us at the same time will prove deadly. That said, I believe Japan is an excellent model of a cult-like nationalism that can be neutralized. But we shouldn't minimize the tremors that still ripple through Japanese society from our victory.
Black arm-banded thugs still drive through the cities broadcasting their fascist hatred for the west in Japan. And the birthrate is abysmal. Something is still very wrong there.
There are no sure-fire, failsafe cures for anti-westernism. The Romans handled Carthage and were still crushed by their own internal weaknesses and a burgeoning external enemy, who reemerged in the form of the Goths and Huns. The fall of Rome is something I have yet to fully understand. Our own destruction will come partly from inside, as well. Aloha Ronnie has illustrated that repeatedly here on FR and in the media. Lincoln said so, as well.
There are some nasty forces at work. We have to face them or our children will die. At the end of WWII, we made a choice: us or them. We chose to live. It's time to make that choice again, without the anasthetic of ideology in our systems.
Remember getting letters like that in the first Gulf war, broke my heart then and breaks my heart for those now getting the same.A military family is something special.God bless them all.
I agree it will take them a long time...and that there will be long term carry over from their history and culture...but we certainly are making an effort that is worth it. Otherwise, we will teach them a good lesson...kill a whole bunch of them...only to have it arise again in the future as soon as they get the chance.
What we are doing in spreaing liberty is the best prospect. I believe it can work. Certainly not nearly so good as our own system works today...and as you can know, we are having our own difficulties...but certainly far better than anything they have had before.
And anything along those lines will prove as a check against the re-emergence of terror as it exists today (we will never entirely stamp it out), and a trip line for us.
Indeed...God bless, protect and preserve them.
Thank you for this beautiful post.
You are very welcome.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent miscellaneous ping list.
I'm for giving that a try, as well. I'd like us to set limits on how hard we're willing to try. I also think we should make clear what these limits are so that the world understands.
Thanks for posting this.
...you're very welcome.
It's a start, thanks.
Wow, that was good. God Bless our Military. God Bless America. God Bless our fine President and his administration.
And God Bless all the fabulous Freepers that support goodness every day....in their pajamas, of course ;-)
