Mosque set on fire in Netherlands By Geraldine Coughlan BBC News, The Hague

There have been more than 20 attacks on Muslim buildings There has been another fire in a mosque in the Netherlands, in what appeared to be the latest in a spate of attacks. Police said the mosque, in the south-eastern village of Helden near the German border, was set on fire early on Saturday.

They said it was not immediately clear if arsonists were behind the attack.

There have been more than 20 incidents of fires or vandalism at Muslim buildings since the murder of the controversial filmmaker Theo van Gogh.

His suspected killer, an alleged Muslim radical of Dutch-Moroccan nationality, was arrested.

Tensions are running high in the Netherlands since the killing.

There have also been a string of retaliatory attacks on Christian churches.

Parliament has been debating how to deal with the growing problem.

There have been calls from some right-wing politicians to deport radical Muslim clerics and close down mosques where they operate.

MPs have asked the government to draft new legislation forcing Dutch mosques to employ only Imams who have studied Islamic religion in the Netherlands, a proposal that is widely supported.

"They said it was not immediately clear if arsonists were behind the attack."

How can this writer suggest arsonists were NOT to blame and yet still call it an attack?

Journalists.... {/disgust}

I know LOTS of Dutch men and women. They are wonderful, dependable people. But you DON'T want to see them (us as I'm part Dutch) angry.

Of course this begs the question of what constitutes an "Imam".

Last I heard the only requirement for being an Imam was having two other people agree that you are one. No study is needed, no credentials are issued, and the "Religion of Peace" has no structural heirarchy, no line of authority, no centerally accepted interpretations of the Koran.

It is what ever the Imam wants it to be.

This is a pretty 'just the facts, maam' sort of article for the BBC. Looks like they are firing the right people.

"As ye sow, so shall ye reap."

Apparently Islamofacists haven't taken this truism to heart. Let the retribution begin.

Some of the Dutch may remember what it felt like under the Nazis. Or at least they taught their children well.

No mention of attacks on Christian churches and buildings, though.

Who thought they still had it in them? Well, those people they're dealing with respect one thing and one thing only, and it ain't turning the other cheek.
