I have got to agree. I think Zell Miller would be awesome as Director of Homeland Security.

Wasn't Tom Ridge former Marine, too? I do think that a Marine (current or former) is best for this post.

What I love about Rudy is he doesn't take crap from anyone. He especially won't take any from those career Washington insiders.

and I'd like to see Rudy as AG...
but he's making so much bank in the private sector, I would be surprised to see him out of the private sector before '06 when I think he will run against Klintoon for Senate.

Look I don't agree with Rudy's views on abortion but I agree with his views on terrorism 100%. This is a job he could do our country a great service in.

"He wants most of his second-term cabinet in place as he starts the second half."

After what Al Gore put this country and the first Administration through, it is no wonder to me that the President wants to move quickly. So much precious time was lost while the dem attempted coup was being fought.

If he never would have taken that position, he..

A) Never would have been Mayor of New York City.
B) Never would have dramatically lowered crime in NYC
C) His strength wouldn't have been there during 9/11
D) His effectiveness campaigning for Bush never would of happened.

It's time you opened your mind and realize what politics are. He's a politician from NYC and he holds the only position he can possibly hold to win there.

I don't know about you, but I haven't seen Rudy attending Planned Parenthood meetings and out marching in front of the Supreme Court when a abortion issue comes up. Maybe he has done all that and I'm missing it.

Get over it. Rudy would be great for the job.

Didn't Rudy make an order that prevented government workers from reporting illegal aliens? Can't see how he'd be effective at HS unless he has changed his tune.

Zell Miller already said he has no interest in any position. He's done with DC and wants to go home to Georgia.

Giuliani is the only possible person for DHS.

Look I don't agree with Rudy's views on abortion but I agree with his views on terrorism 100%.

So you can't find anyone in the country of hundreds of millions who thinks we should defend ourselves but isn't in favor of murdering babies?

No wonder we have problems, big tents have lots of clowns inside.

He also proposed confiscation of private property for unrelated crimes.

The man is a constitutional menace.

I would like to see NY's top cop (Bernie Kerik ?) as security chief. However, I think he and Rudy are both making top dollar with their security firm so I don't know if they are willing to give that up yet.

I still don't see what the hell Rudy's abortion position has to do with fighting terrorists? I don't think General Sherman was a big abolitionist but he was against secession and that was good enough for Abe Lincoln.

There was an article in The Oklahoman this morning about new screening for the border.

Testing begins on border checks

LAREDO, Texas --Foreigners entering the United States in three cities were fingerprinted, photographed, and subjected to background checks Monday in a tes of a program that will eventually be extended to every land border crossing nationwide.

The screeninigs are part of a post-9/11 plan to one day identify and record every foreigner who enters and leaves the United States.
###

This may not seem like much but compared to what we have had in the past -- it is a lot. I may have missed it but this was the first time I read about it and it appeared in a little column on the National page in my paper.

From your keyboard to God's ear...Mineta needs to go worse than some of the people who have already left.

As somebody posted here recently, only four Cabinet members made it all the way through both Clinton administrations, so this isn't really unusual. What's unusual is that there's an orderly transfer between the 2001-2005 and the 2005-2009 administrations, instead of them dribbling out piecemeal over the years.

Rudy Guiliani is the logical choice for DHS, except isn't he sharpening his claws for a shot at Hillary!(tm) in 2006? Or is Pataki going to take The Witch on instead?

And as for Zell...forget DHS. I want him as Press Secretary!! :)
