President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.

Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.

I know, but it often takes a Sigificant Emotional Event to pop someone out of his comfortable rut.

This is not good. That Secret Service agent was in a bad place - diplomatically, it looks like his hands are tied behind his back, but as Secret Service agent for our President, those two yahoos should have been on the ground with bruises just before the photo was snapped.

Thanks for posting this.

Can you say, International Incident, big time? I don't put much stock in apologies for non-incidents, but this was a huge affront and, worse, it could have put Bush's life in danger if someone were nearby to take advantage of the confusion. Chile's highest goverment officials need to send their formal, diplomatic apologies post haste.

This should put every other host nation on notice not to try this at home.

I don't even want to think about what might have, what could have, happened in the time the disturbance was going on.

That agent is the President's lead agent. Just recently I was commenting on his intensity when he is watching the crowd.

This guy cares alot for the President. I first noticed him last Thanksgiving in those pictures. Since then, I had been paying attention to him.

He's ALWAYS with the President. It appears the President cares for him as well.

This is his lead agent. I have been paying close attention to him since last Thanksgiving.

He is always right with him. There is a lot of intensity in his eyes when he's surveying a crowd.

Yeah it makes you wonder why these banana republic a holes wanted to get the USSS away from the Pres. I don't trust any of these commie/Islamofascist/socialist/ states.<p. From the first pic I saw , It looked like the Chili's dishwasher was trying to disarm the SS guy.

No, *sigh* what I said was it worked for me.

When a concerned friend gave that picture to me it helped me get out of the deep rut I was entrenched in, specifically the nasty habit of arguing on the internet.

Isn't this what friends are for?

It's really hard to post, I'm having to type my posts into the address box of IE because the space bar is malfunctioning. Things are flipping all over the place every time I hit the space bar while typing in the post box.
