MSNBC just reported that with 97% in, Bush leads by 11,000 votes in Iowa. 2 counties with 15,000 votes are still to be counted. Both had stopped when their count machines broke down. Both machines fixed, but 1 county will not restart their count until the morning. Also reported that absentee ballots postmarked by midnight would still need to be counted(wonder how many DNC operatives are being let in the back door of post offices tonight?)

BAD NEWS AND GOOD NEWS [11/01 10:56 AM] The bad news, passed on by Middle Cheese: Bush’s poll numbers in Ohio on Sunday night were terrible. Might be a bad sample, or it might be that the last minute break of the undecided is going for Kerry. Good news: Quinnipiac has Bush up 8 in Florida, and tied in Pennsylvania. In New Jersey, they have Kerry up five. (That would still be an 11-point jump for Bush from 2000, which I find plausible.) For those who will be sent into a panic (or euphoria) about the Ohio information above, I...

Columbus Going against his own party, Republican Secretary of State Ken Blackwell sought Friday to pre- vent battalions of political party activists from challenging Ohio voters at polling places on Tuesday. Blackwell's stunning announcement, intended to settle federal lawsuits in Cincinnati and Akron, brought him into immediate conflict with the Ohio Republican Party and one of his 2006 gubernatorial rivals, Republican Attorney General Jim Petro. Blackwell gave a perfunctory notice to Petro, faxed his recommendation to the judges and then rocked the state GOP by publicly instructing Petro, his lawyer, to formally present the settlement offer in both courts. Petro...
