Ohio Today, attorneys representing the Kerry-Edwards campaign filed papers in Delaware County, Ohio to intervene in legal proceedings in defense of Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb, Libertarian Michael Badnarik and their legal counsel, the National Voting Rights Institute, who are seeking a recount of all votes cast for president in the Ohio 2004 general election.

I see Kerry followed Jesse Jackson's advice -- have to keep the base intact, you know.
Get out there and do what? These people are making fools of themselves. It only helps us in the long run. The people I know who voted for Kerry are embarrassed by all of this and want it to go away. The DU nuts, well that's another story....and simply put, there is more of us than there are of them.
Once the ballots are signed and seal by the Sec of State the election is certified. Do a google seacrh on "safe habor provision".
If the election is NOT certified by December 6th, Ohio could lose the vote.
Or taking young girls to abortionist without their parents knowledge.
Nope....the votes can be challenged after certification, but they cannot be challenged after they have been officially slated which must occur 6 days prior to Dec 13th
First, I again am not certain this is true - Mr. Blackwell was saying that if (and he said it WOULD NOT HAPPEN)...but if in the recount Kerry was to get the lead...the OH EV votes would then most certainly be recast for Kerry -
Now the recount is not going to give Kerry the lead (the math simply isn't there)...but I am not sure that your premise is correct that if Kerry did get the lead....he still would not get the 20 OH EV unless Republicans in Congress voted for it -
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
So spend the budget on things which will pay lasting dividends in a way which displays your reason and frugality. Use their own jacked up system against them- while maintaining your integrity.
Please...***Perdogg smashes his head against the table***.
Once the vote is certified, then Bush wins Ohio unless the US Congress says so. Do a google search on safe harbor provision.
They can only be challenge by the House after certification. Read Bush V Gore, Per Curiam.
I invite you to read the following post from a blogger on a leftist website that is tracking the counting of provisional ballots in Ohio:
[FYI: With only 13 counties still counting provisionals (Franklin is the only LARGE county still counting), Kerry has only managed to garner a NET gain of approximately 6,000 votes . . . yep, he only needs another 130,000 votes . . . can we say BIG loser!!]

EXCERPT:
This is not my website. I applauded its inception when I was invited to contribute. I got on here because before the election, I was just as worried as anyone about potential vote fraud in Ohio. I was poised and ready to report. I was a Kerry challenger on election day in Cleveland, committed that Florida 2000 would not happen in my backyard.
Then, we lost. Repeat. We lost. I cried a little...looked at the numbers, which I know well from 15 years in Ohio politics. Accepted the inevitable. Rubbed my forehead. Got drunk a lot. Didn't shave for a week.
Then the basketball season started. Cue Lebron. Life got better.
In Ukraine, there is video footage of ballots stuffed into a box, folded in stacks of 20, all marked with the same pen. Footage of destroyed ballots. Footage of people being beaten. I recognize this, because I once saw it all, first hand, as an election observer in a different dictatorial former soviet republic, and it broke my heart when no one cared enough to protest that one. My heart is warmed by the pictures out of Ukraine of outraged citizens not taking it anymore.
The US is not Ukraine (where I also worked once). Ohio's election system is dysfunctional, but none of it is even in the same universe as Ukraine. I am not crawling through the provisional ballot numbers in Cuyahoga County with my green eyeshades. I am not heartbroken by the fact that Americans are not in the streets.
What does break my heart is Americans deeming themselves competent to compare Kiev to Cleveland, when they have been to neither. My heart is broken by the absurdity of Democrats, yes, Democrats, donating money to ANOTHER POLITICAL PARTY to pay for a recount for silly candidates who got less than one vote per precinct. My heart breaks for my party as I watch it gleefully hurl itself over a cliff by entertaining the notion that Howard Dean, who LOST, over and over, should be chairman of the party.
This post will likely get me off of this blog's contributor list, which is fine. Hell it might even be censored before anyone sees it...which won't be the first time a liberal blog has censored me....you probably want to read this for background.
It's time to breathe again, folks. We have a political party on the brink of electoral oblivion, and we have to fix it. Yes, we also have a messy election system that needs fixing, too. We can do both. Reality must be accepted first.
OK, I get what you are saying here and the fact of the matter is Kerry isn't going to make up 5,000 votes let alone 130,000....But with that said...If Kerry did make it up...he most certainly would get the 20 OH EV - Period.
No way would Republicans in the house stop it - But again, bottom-line it isn't going to happen -(but in the big picture the vote being certified means somewhat little).
The big day is the date GWB is sworn into office.
Now we know why Kerry was hording that 17mil
What a big waste of time and money. This is Delaware County where this was filed. A solid Republican county. I think this is going nowhere.
Not necessarily. How would someone be able to legally make up 127,000 votes?
I believe the 'Rats were able to keep Nader off the ballot in Ohio.
What happens if Ohio loses their vote? Does that mean President Bush loses those electoral votes?
imagine if Ohio has a solid Democratic state structure - supreme court, governor, legislature. and they allowed objectionable methods to take place in the counts to give Kerry the recount win (all the undervotes, hanging chads, all provisional ballots without disqualifications, etc). that's actually not a very far out possibility, not in Ohio, but imagine it was someplace else.
in that case, the House could indeed use their vote to select one of two competing slates of electors from that state. Its not that far fetched.
Is this a recount of the whole state or just one county?
