On the other hand, I never got what was so great about Survivor, American Idol or those AWFUL films Jurassic Park and Twister.
Are you kidding? Twister is a classic! "Left hand - red..."
Agreed. It's a NY thing. I love Seinfeld, still. It works on so many levels.
And as far as the author saying that you learn from Elaine that women have no sense of humor, the fact that she had a weak sense of humor was funny (even though Estelle had less of a sense of humor, "not even a 'HA'."). The woman behind the woman, Julia, the real woman, had a great sense of humor if you watch the out-takes.
On the other hand, I never got what was so great about Survivor, American Idol or those AWFUL films Jurassic Park and Twister.
Same here... There are so many Seinfeld classics - the soup nazi, the no-masturbation contest, George's parents (I'd crack up just at the sight of his father - I'm laughing now!)
Similarly I could not stand Twister - I remember at the end of the movie standing up and saying that it was too bad that all the characters didn't die in the tornado (a little boy sitting in front of me turned around and gave me a dirty look).
And I thought Rocky and Bullwinkle and the Simpsons were (are) great as well. Funny at two levels - especially Rocky.
Ah, too bad you missed the point.
There was a definite message in that movie:
The first to die were the insane, deranged programmer and the lawyer. :-)
I liked Seinfeld but I thought it was over rated, I can't watch it in re-runs.
It wasn't the best sitcom of all time, That would be Married With Children
The Jurassic park movies would have been good if the annoying kids in each of them would have gotten eaten.
Neither did I. I got stuck watching the last 15 minutes of "Survivor" once at the home of some friends and thought it was about the stupidest thing I'd ever seen.
I always did enjoy Seinfeld as did several of my friends and I'm not from New York. I visit there about once a year, though and have an appreciation for NYC, so that may play into it.
Jurassic Park: a great chase movie with nice adults, nice kids, and neat special effects. T-Rex eats the lawyer. What's not to like? My three year old (too young to be scared) didn't even know what a lawyer is and said "MORE!" Budding genius.
Never saw Twister.
one of the only regular shows I would set time aside to watch was Northern Exposure
It's not a New York thing...Seinfeld is hilarious...last good sitcom on TV.
