You got it, Ohio...that's the part I found most unbelievable, even more so than the part that he wants Dems to love him. One more that irked me no end...that he's just like Bush 41. Yeah, that one really flies...LOL!
What are the FACTS that back up this hysteria?
What are the specifics of what Mineta has done to castigate him? (Being a clinton holdover, or even a dem does not qualify).
What are is the factual INFORMATION to support the charge that he is "incompetant?" (Disagreeing with racial profiling and passenger screening does not qualify).
What is the rationale, based on President Bush's consistent competance and success, that support the accusation that he is being completely blind or stupid in keeping Mineta on?
I have seen NOTHING to support any of these positions.
This is the problem I have with him and Chao and Mankiw. I know the things they deal with are complex and multifaceted and there probably is no one right answer to all the problems of trade and globalization and the national economy, but these people just have a tin ear when it comes to political strategy. They seem to have the knack for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time in the wrong place. Even though he can't run for President again, Bush still needs to use his political capital wisely. And that means getting positive things done, not running damage control operations and putting out brushfires started by tin-eared subordinates.
I haven't seen anything to make me hate Mineta. I trust Bush.
(And unlike some of these folks, disagreement with someone does NOT make me hate them).
I like listening to anyone who will publicly denounce political stupidity. Mineta is a PC whore and Bush has cast his support to such.

It's probably part of President Bush's PC plan to maintain the "diversity" of his cabinet.
The Illinois Republicans sure seemed to think it had alot to do with it, at least thats what many told me. Matter of fact, that's why they encouraged him to change residency and run, all because of his ideology.
I don't care whether I agree with him on an issue or not. He's gone 'round the bend and is not worth any rational person's time.
IMHO, there are some mighty big strikes against Mr. Mineta, who was a Clinton disciple as Sec. of Commerce.
First, Mineta, who is proudly of Japanese-American decent whose family was interned during WWII, is the main reason why airport TSA agents don't profile middle-eastern persons for extra inspection and instead fondle-up grandma and your 16-year old daughter. He is hypersensitive to racial profiling. Fulfilling Kerry's more sensitive war? He also is responsible for the little known rule that if TSA agents pull 2 middle eastern types out for extra inspection, they cannot pull out a 3rd or any others.
Second, Mineta is the ultimate blocking point for any truth to come out over Flight 800 back in 1996. On July 17,1996 TWA Flight 800 was blown from the skies with 230 people aboard and killed. The very likely explanation is that the US Navy was responding to radar tracking of a smaller plane, piloted by Islamic-terrorists and heavily laden with high explosives, intent on suicide-flying their plane into Flight 800 for an air-to-air collision. The Navy very likely fired a surface to air missile(s) to take out the terrorist, did so, but it was too close to Flight 800 and the resulting explosion took out Flight 800. The downing happened just before Clinton's 2nd-term election, and there are many Clinton-Dems who appeared to actively put a lid on the truth (Richard Clarke, Sandy (document stealing) Berger, Jamie Gorelick to name a few).

This past October, the History Channel premiered a new documentary on TWA Flight 800's demise.
Savage is clearly unbalanced. That doesn't preclude him from knocking some out of the park.
Instead of answering a question with a question, why don't you enlighten him. Mineta being a Clinton holdover just doesn't cut the mustard.

I happen to see it and turned it off. It was nothing more than an hour of conspiracy nuts.
That doesn't mean anyone (except a therapist) should sit and listen to them............and especially then recommend that others do so as well.....
