Is it time for a who's going to the W2 Inaugural Ball and where will you be staying (and what will you be wearing) thread?

Click for Ball Info

If so, I'll start off.

The Good Lord willing, Sheila and I will be there accompanied by Syncro, and we'll be staying at the Washington Plaza Hotel. Chris is working and won't be able to take time off to drive us across country so our good friend Syncro has offered to take us. We'll be taking the southern route and will spend a few days in Florida before heading up to Washington, DC. Hope to visit as many chapters as we can along the way. And if anyone wants to join a cross country convoy, that would be great!

Sheila and I are thinking about cowboy hats and boots. We're in the mood for some boot, scoot and boogie!

Chris may be able to take a couple days off so he can fly out for the Ball, but he doesn't know yet. John and Tami will also be there and her son Nicky and her mom.

This is going to be a great ball!

Hope to see you there!!

I try to send a package every month to Walter Reed with phone cards and the like. I live in the home town of Little Debbie, so I always send a lot of snacks.

Since they have a lot of visitors, maybe there is some other method of say8ing our "thank you".

Live in the area so won't be needing a hotel room.

Black suit (no Tux), white shirt, black bowtie. What will the wife be wearing? Don't know yet. She'll probably want to buy ANOTHER dress for the occassion. Bringing the Mother-in-law as well. She's a yellow-dog-Democrat but a sweetheart just the same.

Look for the Oreo trio.

We're staying at the Homestead Studio Suites in Alexandria.

(We found it on priceline, hope it's OK. Can anyone in DC tell/warn us what to expect?)

Besides the inaugural ceremonies, we will attend the March for Life and Lifewatch (pro-life United Methodist) activites on the 24th.

To: Jim Robinson; All

If a FReeper needs a room, I have one available. I first got a room at the Howard Johnson Express at 600 New York Ave NE (at Florida) in DC for the nights of the 19th and 20th but then got a room at the Hawthorne Suite in Alexandria for the same nights. The rate is $127.43 for the two nights, plust taxes.

It's a king bed, smoking for two adults.

There must be a way to transfer the reservation. I've got a 24 hour prior cancellation on it and it's held with a CC.

I am going to maintain the reservation until a day or two before the ball.

"This may have been mentioned, suggested. but if not, I would and think many of us would like to go to visit the wounded troups at Walter Reed while in DC.

If we could all go in same time frame perhaps day before or after the Inauguration? visit GIs in groups of two or three? for 2-3 hours?" ----DollyCali

Definitely, it would be an honor!

I am jealous Jim! Wish I could go, afraid to fly, and no time for Chads to take off to drive. Guess I should consider the stow away thingie again! :-) Have a great time and take a picture of the Bush's for me, okay?

T'wit will be black tie. Mrs. T'wit, an accomplished ballroom dancer, will be appropriately gowned and gorgeous. The hotel claimed it only had three-day packages, but that was fine with us. We'll get there on the 18th and enjoy a long-awaited mini-vacation of sight-seeing, visiting the Smithsonian, and joining whatever mischief the Freepers can dream up :-)

Btw, I talked to Dolly Kyle Browning earlier this week and urged her to come to the ball and see her Freeper friends. She said she'd think about it, but joked that she had a policy not to go anywhere cold! I cracked up :-)
