TESTING THE FAITH City will prosecute Christian protesters

A federal appeals court denied an emergency appeal to stop prosecution of 11 Philadelphia-area Christians who allege the District Attorney's office retaliated against them for exercising their constitutional rights at a homosexual event in which they were arrested and later charged with felonies...the group was "preaching God's Word" to a crowd of people attending the outdoor Philadelphia "OutFest" event and displaying banners with biblical messages....the eleven Christians were arrested and spent a night in jail.(they were charged with)3 felonies and 5 misdemeanors. The charges were criminal conspiracy, possession of instruments of crime (NOTE:Bibles), reckless endangerment of another person, ethnic intimidation, riot, failure to disperse, disorderly conduct and obstructing highways. (...a video) show(ed) the Philadelphia 11 cooperated with police and were continually harassed by the Pink Angels.None of the Pink Angels was cited or arrested. The ethnic intimidation charge stems from Pennsylvania's "hate crimes" law – to which the newest "victim" category of "sexual orientation" was recently added. (is there ANYBODY who didn't see this coming????) The protesters say a Philadelphia police officer told them that because they were on a public sidewalk they were permitted to move freely through the event. A few minutes later, however, they were arrested and removed. The Philadelphia 11 face a maximum penalty of 47 years each in jail.....(read more)

Thanks for the ping Spook! Just add this to another thing that has really ticked me off this week. My kids had a Christmas Festival at school. They sang songs about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and some Muslim thing. Yet, there was no mention of Christmas. None.Zip.Zilch.Nada! Yet, it was a "Christmas Festival".

I will definitely send this along to my mom as well.

The attorney says the charges were dropped against the remaining seven because they were not seen quoting scripture on the videotape. Fahling says in Philadelphia, it appears the public reading of scripture will land a person in jail.

Not a good precedent to set.

In October, 11 Christians were arrested as they were praying and reading scripture during the annual "gay pride" event known as "Outfest" in Philadelphia. Those in the group were charged with three felonies (criminal conspiracy, ethnic intimidation, and riot) and five misdemeanors.

Anal sodomy between men is now an "ethnic" race?

Welcome to Bizzaro world.

Nowhere in the article to which you linked does it say that Bibles were the "instruments of crime" this group was charged with possessing. Do you have other substantiation for such an assertion?

This is what happens when you live in a blue state.

No fears of that happening in down here in Jesusland.

This is one of those times when it's hard to believe my own eyes. I watched the video, so I know it's true, but still... I knew Filthadelphia was a stinking rat hole, but I'm having a hard time accepting that I can be arrested there for the crime of being a Christian. Unbelievable!

Yeah, but It doesn't say when the last days will be. I was really hoping not to witness them up close and personal.

Deu 30:7 And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

Psa 109:16 Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.

Psa 119:161 SCHIN. Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.

Psa 143:3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

Isa 14:6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, [and] none hindereth.

Lam 3:43 Thou hast covered with anger, and persecuted us: thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied.

Mat 5:10 Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Jhn 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Act 7:52 Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

Act 22:4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

Act 26:11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled [them] to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted [them] even unto strange cities.

1Cr 4:12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

1Cr 15:9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

2Cr 4:9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

Gal 1:13 For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

Gal 1:23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

Gal 4:29 But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him [that was born] after the Spirit, even so [it is] now.

1Th 2:15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

Rev 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man [child].

I think hes got it covered Yea ! i know hes got it covered !

"THanks to the conservative Mennonites, Amish and other groups here in PA, we have a law which could have been prevented." What happened? I didn't know the Mennonites and Amish were instrumental in passing this law.

Mennonites and Amish, despite their large population, do not vote.
