Kids at YMCA swim meet run into cross-dressing ball

In an incident the YMCA is calling "a very regrettable scheduling error," kids arriving for an early-morning swim meet Sunday walked into a gender-bending scene of the kind most of them wouldn't be allowed to watch on TV.

Several of the kids' angry parents clashed with participants in a transgender fashion show, which had been under way at the New City YMCA since about midnight, resulting in a chaotic melee that was eventually broken up by private security guards and East Chicago District police.

A YMCA member had reserved the entire facility, at 1515 N. Halsted, from 11 p.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. Sunday for a fashion show and ball, which featured cross-dressing and transgender models in a competition similar to the ones shown in the 1991 documentary "Paris Is Burning." But the facility had also been booked to host the youth swim meet, scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Sunday. When the swimmers -- mostly elementary and junior high school-age kids -- and their parents started showing up shortly after 6 a.m., many of the parents were upset to see the "House of Escada" fashion show and dance in full swing.

"It was like they didn't want the kids to see the gay people at all," said Kashma Avery, in a recorded interview provided by WBBM-AM (780). Avery was in charge of a 13-member security detail for the ball, which he said was attended by about 400 people, most of them gay men.

Scheduling policies face review

As parents and other YMCA members began to complain about the event, New City staff reportedly closed off access to bathrooms and locker rooms, barring the "House of Escada" participants from continuing to use the facility. At that point, party guests and parents began confronting each other in the building's hallways and lobby.

"Some of the guests started hearing sexist slurs," said Avery, "and an altercation ensued."

A chair was thrown, and when a witness mistakenly reported hearing shots fired, police were called to the scene. The scuffle was quickly broken up, and police said no arrests were made.

A spokesman for the YMCA, Luis Diaz-Perez, said Sunday, "The YMCA regrets any confusion or concern caused to our members by this scheduling conflict."

He added that New City, which does not typically schedule overnight events, will today undertake a comprehensive review of its rental and scheduling policies.

Homosexual Agenda PING - lj, scripter - I don't have the list on this computer, can you ping the list please?

This is a talling statement:

"It was like they didn't want the kids to see the gay people at all,"

In other words, the sodomite WANTED the kids to see the 'gay people'. But...they'll be the first to tell you that they don't "recruit". Riiiiiight.

I also loved the "some people heard sexist comments". So now gender-bending sicko's qualify under "sexist" protections?

No, I know you don't belong to the YMCA :)

But this is worth a read.

I'm sorry again expat, and thanks for the kind comment (I knew you were ok from your previous postings).

I did try to note in the post that I was being sarcastic. I learned last weekend that I could really upset people if I didn't say so up front (same lesson Rush learned in about 1990, if I remember correctly).

I'll minimize these types of postings in any case, but they are fun.

Ya know...

It is hard enough to explain to young kids about homosexuality.

And this Kashma Kook is shocked that parents don't want their kids exposed to cross dressing?????

AND this was a child's sporting event. NO, I wouldn't want to share the facility with them either!!!

I think all management for YMCA's should be trained at the Oklahoma branch.

Wow, what the hell is a Y doing allowing this crap on their property. If I was a member of this Y Monday the Y manager would be looking for a new job. If that didn't happen I'd quit on the spot.

Many city Y's are homeosexual and lesbian hangouts.

Well that answers a question I've been considering recently - is it worth the high cost of membership to join the Y. A big fat no way.

Well, at least these folks were dancing.

I'd hate for the kids to go swimming in the pool and come across a "clump of 'DNA"

I knew that--my point is--do even the people who run this Y remember what the C stands for.

>>>I hope some of the members grab the film from security cams. I would bet it was a Fudge Packers Ball rather than fashion show.

Have you ever SEEN a transgender fashion show???

Whether there was physical interactive or not, the dress is well beyond extreme. NOTHING for children to see.

If posting sarcasm, add '/sarcasm' or '/joking' or something at the end of your statement. This was there will be no questions to the intent.

I think this is a wonderful story.

Why?

Usually the parents would have bundled their chidlren off and made phone calls...but it would have been undercover for fears of reprisal

These parents SPOKE UP. LOUDLY! and NEARLY CAUSED A MELEE!

We are finding our voice and our voice is to tolerate this behavior at the margins of our culture and not to have it in the middle of our lives.

I have several issues with this.

1. When did the YMCA change from Young Men's CHRISTIAN Association to Young Men Crossdressing A-holes?

2. Why is the YMCA scheduling a swim meet on Sunday, when these kids should be in church?

3. What are these parents doing taking the kids to a swim meet instead of church on Sunday morning?

4. Why is the report not including more details about what went on at the "fashion show"? (I can answer that....LIBERALS HIDING THE TRUTH!

5. Is there any way for the Christians to take back the YMCA from these MORONS?
