Another "Moderate" Muslim Group - (Not good news. How much is enough?)
FRONTPAGEMAGAZINE.COM ^ | DECEMBER 29, 2004 | DANIEL PIPES

Muqtedar Khan of the Brookings Institution has announced, in a recent article in the Daily Times of Lahore, the coming into existence on Dec. 13, 2004, of yet another organization of American Muslims claiming to be moderates. It does not lack for ambitions: “Now with the constitution of the American Muslim Group for Policy Planning, Moderate Muslims in America have a name and an address.” Unfortunately, in its initial form, the AMGPP does not at all appear to be moderate.

Rather, it resembles the Progressive Muslim Union (which opened its virtual doors a month earlier, and which I have analyzed in a lengthy (blog entry). The two organizations have overlapping personnel, some on the left (Ahmed Nassef) and others Islamist (Salam Al-Marayati). They share an American feel to them (in contrast to many other Muslim organizations, with their more immigrant-like quality). Their main difference seems to be that PMU is based in New York and AMGPP in Washington; this means that while the one has a regular feature on “Sex and the Umma,” the other includes the phrase “policy planning” in its name. The one tries to be hip, the other to be influential.

I'll take the pretense of moderation as a small sign of progress.

I'll take it as a sign of deception.

So they have denounced any section of the Quoran that promotes the hatred and killing of non-Muslims? And they have openly condemned any terrorists, including those demented Palistinians? And they announced to the world that Arafat was an evil killer, just like OBL and Hussein and the rest of them? And all those whacky imams who preach that Islam will rule the world should be forever silenced, right?

Sure. Mind you, even if they did say these things, I wouldn't believe or trust them. Sorry. I've seen and read enough.

Well, of course. Just like liberals don't want to be known as "liberals" anymore. It's a sign that public opinion has turned enough that they have to try to "re-brand" themselves.

Hypocrisy is the tribute vice pays to virtue.

This is just another group of muslims that citizens must keep an eye on. When sleeper cells awaken, and they start their jihad on these shores..it would be best to know where they all are.

Muslims intend to convert this country, they've tried it everywhere else, and I'll be darned if I'll trust any muslim-no matter if they call themselves moderated or conservative, the majority are either terrorists or support terrorists.

Progress? Perhaps progress in lulling gullible Americans to sleep for an easier kill.

But that's not what I call progress. A little honesty might be progress, but the "holy" Koran makes it a "virtue" to lie to the infidel if it helps the Musli to kill us.

This crap needs to be sent back the the primitive sand pits that spawned it.

"You can't be a true American and a Muslim at once."

Absolutely true. Islam, by its very nature, is at perpetual war against all non-muslim lands. They need to be deported. Anything less is surrender, however slow and agonizing that surrender may be.

I agree. Deportation is the only defense posture we should be taking. These people can not possibly give their allegiance to the United States of America, because they've already given 100% of it - fanatically - to everything listed under "The Will of Allah."

As for "contributions" to America, they want to contribute to it's erosion and it's defeat while accelerating submission to Islam. If enough true Americans began a "Deport Them Now" movement, they would run to the ACLU for legal assistance in fighting "racism" the all purpose claim of "victims" who are intent upon destroying our society, culture, traditions, morals and all that we hold dear.

If something isn't done soon, this Muslim tide can easily become a cultural tsunami hitting us, from sea to shining sea. This worries me more than anything else that we are facing. If we allow islamofascists to destroy America, how important are all of the other "big issues?" (tax reform, education reform, immigration?) Just listing them looks silly, when considered in the light of an eventual "Islamic States of America."

Nah, my position hasn't changed, you just came to the wrong conclusion before, without fully knowing what my position was.

I agree that we should not be allowing immigration from Muslim countries, and that Muslims who are here illegally should be deported pronto. I agree that fundamentalist Islam is a serious menace, and that a large portion of the Muslim population worldwide is fundamentalist and either actively wishes us harm or sympathizes with those who do.

I understand your position to be, though, that even Muslims who are U.S. citizens should be deported. I disagree with this, for a number of reasons. First, as citizens they have as much legal right to be here as you or me. Second, how do you go about identifying who is, or isn't, a Muslim? You might be able to identify and expel some, or even many, but how many would be simply driven underground, or convert to another religion under false pretenses? I just don't think this is practical. Which leaves us with intelligence-gathering and a vigorous effort to charge and convict those who conspire to commit acts of terror. Terrorism is an act of war, not a crime. Unlike conventional war, though, it is difficult to identify the combatants. I'm all for streamlining the process of trying and convicting terrorist wannabees by military tribunal, and swiftly executing them.

I know you disagree with me on the question of whether or not Islam can be reformed. I think it is possible, and in fact is the only way Islam is going to survive long term. Assuming that mass conversion to another religion is unlikely, I think it behooves us to carrot-and-stick them into something more resembling Unitarianism.

Some posts (as this last one of yours) just make my eyes bug out for their perfect distillation of the truth.

The only difference between an "American" Muslim and a soldier in Hitler's army is one of tactics.
