Arizona pastor arrested, accused of molesting boys in 3 states

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - An Arizona church pastor accused of molesting a Florida boy eight years ago has been arrested, authorities said.

Robert A. Enersen, 54, pastor of the First Assembly of God church in Douglas, Ariz., faces three counts of lewd assault on a child and is being held in an Arizona jail without bail after his Monday arrest, a Polk County (Fla.) sheriff's report said.

The charges also include accusations from boys in Michigan and North Carolina.

A representative with the Assemblies of God national headquarters said Tuesday the organization was not aware of Enersen's arrest. He does not have any prior documented cases of misconduct in his file, the representative said.

Enersen conducted youth services for about two months in 1996 at New Life Assembly of God in Wahneta, Fla., a small town south of Winter Haven, Fla.

A boy who is now 15 told Polk detectives in October that Enersen inappropriately touched him on numerous occasions in November 1996, the report said. Investigators said Enersen and the victim knew each other outside the church.

The boy told detectives he didn't initially report the lewd acts because "he was afraid of the suspect," the report said.

During the investigation, Enersen admitted to molesting the Polk victim and also told a detective he had sexual relations with a boy in North Carolina between the time the child was 10 and 17 years old, the report said.

Enersen also told the detective he molested a boy in Michigan, the report said, without providing further details.

The Douglas Police Department is investigating in Arizona, Douglas police Lt. Carlos Guido said Tuesday.

Guido said Enersen has been pastor of the small Douglas church since 2001.

Douglas, located in southeast Arizona, has a population of about 28,000 residents.

If only the AOG would get rid of the anti-Biblical practice of forced celibacy for their ministers!

Oh wait a minute...never mind.

LOL, at least our AOG gets rid of them, and doesn't hide them from the law. Of course, we don't have a celibacy rule, that on top of being unscriptural, attracts homosexuals in the first place.....

First priests, now fundamentalist pastors. What's with these bozo pedophiles. It's funny, but I think some of this is almost less about sex than about power. Like Clinton, they do it because they can. I'd cut their ***** off upon conviction and completion of all appeals, and perhaps brand them as well so that no one would ever fail to be aware of their crimes.

No offense, but arent you surprised they didnt just transfer him? To another Church?

Or are you surprised they pressed charges?

I dont understand your comment...

Looks like he moved around though. Evil people are active in all walks of life. Having a job as a minister, unfortunately, doesn't always equal being Godly. No more that being inside a church makes one a Christian. I think we've all experienced people like that at some point.

My comment was sort of a tongue-in-cheek comment on those who seem to think that the problem of homosexual child molesters in the Catholic Church is due to the celibacy rule in the Latin church. Celibacy isn't the problem, homosexuals are. This story seems to bear that fact out.

"First Assembly of God church..."

Bad luck with the initials there.

While I disagree with celibacy as something supposed to make you more spiritual, I will certainly agree the problem is Sodomites!

And they should ALL be sent to jail, tried, and then executed. Child molestation to me is one of the most disgusting things.

838 PROTESTant MINISTERS ABUSE CHILDREN

Make that 839

Was this guy married? Seems Celibacy is only an issue when it involves Catholics? Usually the liberal Catholics who want to change the church and have female priests.

Amazing, isn't it! This particular story made the news. One has to wonder how many others are tossed aside. The problem is neither celibacy, nor married priesthood, nor female priests. The problem is poor formation and improper selection. It's really that simple.

Yeah, right...one or two, here and there, vs. a tidal wave, and that's just in the Boston Archdiocese alone. There's no telling how bad this problem really is within your Church, with the coverup mentality that surrounds the whole operation.

I don't argue with Catholics about what is obviously wrong with a multitude of their doctrines...but there is absolutely NO comparison between the degree of homosexuality within the Catholic priesthood vs any protestant one you can name...none whatsoever.

Of course, you're fairly ignorant of Scripture.

Of course, you're ignorant of a number of things, like all these Protestants, in addition to the teaching of Scripture on the discipline of celibacy.
