Every Senator who walks out, etc, should be horse-whipping, tarred and feathered, and run out of DC forever!

GET BUSY AND EARN YOUR PAYCHECKS YA BASTIDS!

Repubs may have to "go nuclear."

Let's hope they're up to it.

I hope that the Senate comes to a grinding halt. The less that gets done in DC the better.

Considering the treasonous bunch of thieves that make up the Senate, shut down is the correct state for them.

Wish it was permanent.

"confirming his replacement is expected to bring Senate business to a grinding halt."

The text does not match the headline.

Bringing business to a grinding halt may simply mean all other biz is on hold until this is finished.

Which is prolly how it's going to happen.

If this happens look for the RINOs to get even more face time on the MSM networks than usual.

PSM-NBC relaying a message from DNC mother ship 1 to Republicans and Earthlings - Surrender your judges or we will destroy your planet .... or stomp off in a hissy fit.

Doe the President have the authority/power to order the arrest of Senators that don't show? If so, he could have them arrested and brought to the chamber.

First set precedent last session by allowing the Dems to filibuster against bringing judicial nominee names to the floor after they had passed Committee. Frist should have called the very first attempt out-of-order and proceeded on with the vote. Frist didn't. Frist cowered and whined and allowed the bullies to run amok.

This is Frist's bed, let him lie in it. The Dem will determine who any SC J replacements are, because Frist is afraid of the bullies.

If the Republicans re-elect Frist as Majority leader, they get what they deserve.

A little perspective, folks, please! First, this is an item from PMSNBC. Secondly, I think the Senate 'Pubbies are starting to feel their Cheerios and aren't in much of a mood to continue to allow letting the MINORITY Dem party call the shots.

The voters handed them a clear majority in November and gave Bush a mandate. If they know anything, they know that this session is the time to put up or shut up. If they don't come through with the President's agenda, they know that they will never see a majority again.

I think we will see Senate 'Pubbies who are energized and ready to take control - FULL control of the Senate and prove that the voters were right to give them that majority.

Wouldn't be such a bad thing. Wouldn't be so bad if the federal courts shut down either.

The Republicans in the Congress are in hardly a more disagreeable position...

If they go Nuclear and somehow lose, they face gridlock and will lose the Senate in 2006

If they dont go Nuclear and face gridlock, they will lose the Senate in 2006...

If the Democrats block, this could get interesting very quickly. There are other things to do besides the SC justices. And while they are debating it or philibustering it, people in the real world will continue without due process because it isnt just the SCOTUS that is going to have nominees....but the different circuit and appellate justices as well....

A full Democratic shut down of the Senate will prevent voters from acting selectively to kick out filibusterers.
A strategic move which the liberal media will support and then will try turning it into a reckless Republican maneuver.

If the left-wingers are so unable to accept no longer being the majority party that they're willing to initiate a full-blown constitutional crisis, then I predict they'll continue to be beaten like a drum in election after election after election.
