A grand jury probing the Sandy Berger Trousergate scandal grilled longtime White House consigliere Bruce Lindsey yesterday a move that could put Lindsey's former boss, Bill Clinton, in the investigative crosshairs.
On Tuesday the New York Post revealed that prosecutors had finally begun probing Berger's removal of top secret documents from the National Archives in preparation for his testimony before the 9/11 Commission last year. But in today's follow-up story reporting Lindsey's interrogation, the paper failed to explain why the Trousergate grand jury has turned to him.
The answer: Lindsey and Berger were involved in preparing Clinton for his own testimony before the 9/11 Commission. In fact, last April 9, both the sticky-fingered aide and the notorious Clinton damage controller accompanied the ex-president to his 9/11 interrogation, according to Time magazine.
The obvious question grand jurors will want answered: Did Clinton, through Lindsey, know that Berger had stolen the top secret docs?
Another question undoubtedly on the minds of prosecutors: Who was Berger contacting when he told guards at the National Archives that he needed privacy to make a few cell phone calls, as reported by the New York Daily News just days after Trousergate broke?
"All I know is what he [Berger] said. He made a public statement," a tight-lipped Lindsey told the Post after testifying under oath yesterday.
That long lost dream - Clinton in jail, where he belongs - inches closer. Dare I hope that I may see justice done to him before I die?
If I were either of these two I think I'd make sure my last will and testament is up to date.
Typical exagerrated headline from Newsmax. Not a credible news source.
Don't get your hopes up. Clinton will never see jail. But I'm surprised they are investigating. It seemed like they were willing to sweep the theft of highly-classified documents under the carpet. Good to see I was wrong. Hope its not a whitewash.
....The obvious question .....
The obvious question is will the GJ believe the three when they all tell the same lies?
Sad but true. When I see a Newsmax or WND byline, I rarely even read the story. They tend to be nothing but re-hashed and repackaged discussions of selective excerpts from elsewhere.

A file of the stories.
You reminded my of Simeon, who just asked to see the Lord's salvation and die in peace.
Only thing is, if Slick does go to jail, won't you be a little antsy?
Billy boyze partners from Mena gate will never let him go down....I dont care how many people he kills...rapes...rips off or how many secrets he sells to our enemies...
He has a permenant get out of jail free card....and is untouchable....
It's damn embarassing that FR uses Newsmax as a source for ANYTHING, just because they are one of the few who let us cut and paste their articles.
And they NEVER credit the people they snatched the story from.
You can usually tell a NewsMax article just by the headline, I've found. They're so predictable. Do they consider themselves journalists? Because it seems all they do is put their spin on what someone else has reported.
In fact the record shows that it was a stroke of good work by the border crossing guards who thought the driver of the car coming from Canada into the US was acting in a most suspicious manner.
