Political Ads from Iraq -- Must See
www.memri.org ^

Posted on 01/24/2005 11:02:25 AM PST by McB.

You probably won't see this in our media, but I thought it was fascinating. This is what our troops have done, and this is the best example of the President's speech.

Interesting...

I certainly hope that the elections don't result in another Saddam...that's my fear.

Bump! Thanks for reposting this. I think it was too early in the morning when I posted it. I didn't get much on the responses.

Better ads than our politicians serve up. I liked the last one where the message was that the best remedy for American troops in Iraq was to vote and create a stable society.

Thanks. That was inspiring. Less than a week to go now. I'm sure the evil doers have some awful plans, but I think they've already lost. Some very interesting times ahead.

Mine as well.

But, based on what the leading parties stand for, I do not think that will happen, a miracle if so.

It is incredibly hard to leave tyrannny without installing another tyrannical leader.

But, it can be done. We did it. Afghanistan has now done it. And, with God's grace, Iraq will as well.

What I find most interesting in foreing-language ads is listenign for English words. I found one that surprised me... "Doctor." (in the Dr. Iyad Allawi ad.)

Isn't there an Arabic word for "Doctor?"

Alawi: Hello, My name is Iyad Allawi, I am an Iraqi and a physician. When we physicians graduate, we take an oath to treat people and ease their pain. Therefore, we cannot stand by and watch the oppression and tyranny that have hurt Iraq. I have resisted this tyranny for over thirty years and I've been a target of attempted assassinations. I have returned to my country to take part in its rebuilding. Therefore, we have assembled a party to run in the elections and called it "The Iraqi List". It will create a new tomorrow for a strong Iraq.

Announcer: Vote for the Iraqi party and for Dr. Iyad Alawi for a strong leadership and a secure homeland!

Those joining the man now outnumber the militants. He nods and they move forward. The militants run away.

I've seen these. I like the one where the crowds are coming at each other as they are about to fight then after they stop in the street the little boys run out and hug.

I teared up with some of them.

Wow--those were very impressive. Two of them gave me chills--the one in the street with the two factions confronting each other, until the boys run to embrace--and the old man turning the corner into the alley.

McB.--thanks for the post.

Thanks for reposting this. I think it was too early in the morning when I posted it.

A lot of good stuff goes by the wayside because FR is coast to coast, "Global" and 24/7. People in the Eastern Time Zone post an article at 09:00 EST when its 06:00 PST. By the time the "West's Awake", the post has been bumped down by other news.

That's why I don't jump on others for posting a "duplicate thread", or re-posting the same article 3 or 4 hours later with a link to the original thread. I appreciate the work of those who post articles for the rest of us to read.

Those are fascinating... Some seem a little cheesy, but the one with the very Western looking citizens facing down the insurgent looking guys in the alley is a FANTASTIC ad. It teared me up!
