The ads are interesting. I wonder if there are any parties running on an Anti-American agenda, and running anti-American ads? Is their any censorship?

Yes and no. Every leading party in the Iraqi elections shares the "Get The Americans Out" platform, but they differ on timelines and methods. Some are declaring that they will force an immediate withdrawal of American forces from the entire country, others are promising to kick the Americans out of the cities or relegate them to border patrol, and still others are promising that we'll leave in a "year or two". None of the Iraqi frontrunners supports keeping the US or US corporations in Iraq for an indefinite period.

As for censorship, it's primarily of the "self" variety at the moment. The most ardent anti-Americans, the terrorists, don't run commercials because they'd have to identify themselves to the TV stations. You'd have to be an incredibly stupid terrorist to do that.

Great information. Might I ask how you come to know this?

Assyrian neighbors with family in Baghdad, one of whom is an Arabic translator for the local Assyrian community helping to prepare people for the upcoming election. The guy is an endless fountain of fascinating information about Iraq.

I've been wondering what has been airing on Iraqi television. I hope that Dr. Alawi and Company have been urging Iraqis to "give up" the bad guys. I hope that have a "tip" line, like America's Most Wanted. If it hasn't already been done, we need a bounty, and a big one at that, on the head of Zarqawi.

That is interesting as well. Do the Assyrian's have a party to represent their community? If not, with which group have the cast their lot? The Kurds? The Shiites? The Sunni's?

Yes, there are a couple actually. Many Assyrians are also apparently supporting Allawi because his Shiite/Sunni alliance is relatively secular and inclusive of all of Iraqs population groups. As is to be expected, there is also a socialist party which has gained a little bit of support from younger Assyrian expats who have grown up among the leftists in the US and Europe.
