Same seemingly diametrical opposition in political views one can see in another prominent English family of the period, that of the Filbies.Er, you mean the Philbys.

Yeah? Tell that to Florida. The switch in the Jewish vote was a huge part of why it was incontestable. My Jewish grandfather, 89 years old and a Democrat all his life, voted for a Republican for President for the first time ever. He wasn't alone. For the first time in a long time you can advocate a conservative position in a Jewish community and not be run out of town by the failing and flailing socialist contingent.

I think he is better than Coulter. Steyn has an insiders knowledge of Canadian, British and Commonwealth government, history and current affairs that most Americans do not have. Not only are we lacking in knowledge about the Commonwealth, many of us are also just not that interested. Pity.

From his
website:Mark is of Jewish descent, but was baptized a Catholic, confirmed an Anglican, and currently attends a small rural American Baptist Church. As John Podhoretz of The New York Post said, Youre not Jewish or gay? But you wrote a book on musicals?

On a similar note, Norman Jewison, the director of the film version "Fiddler on the Roof", is also not Jewish. Go figure.

It really doesn't matter what he has been baptized or where he attends church. In non=Jewish eyes he will always be Jewish. His place in the cattle car is already reserved.
