HILLARY MODIFIES ABORTION LANGUAGE

Proposing new political language about abortion rights for an increasingly skittish Democratic Party, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday that friends and foes on the issue should come together on "common ground" to reduce the number of "unwanted pregnancies" and ultimately abortions, which she called a "sad, even tragic choice to many, many women."

Clinton, in a speech to about 1,000 abortion rights supporters at the state Capitol, firmly restated her support for Roe v. Wade.

But then she offered warm words to opponents of abortion and said that faith and organized religion were the "primary" reasons teenagers abstained from sexual relations.

The NEW YORK TIMES is set to splash the Hillary speech.

I think that the expression "common ground" is very outrogeous. Sen. Clinton hates life, she is only a beldam.

That's what makes them so dangerous. The sheeple love it when a leader smoothes over these difficulties for them so they can get back to Oprah and the things that matter. I'm convinced many of the people just want government to comfort them and fool them into thinking everything's OK. Clinton's are pro's at it.

We feel murder is a terrible thing so we need to come to a middle ground with those who are against it.

We've always found it difficult to curb the actions of murderers, so instead, we propose decreasing the number of potential victims. Doesn't that sound wonderful.

This way everyone is happy! The murderers can continue to do their thing and we can show how the overall numbers of murders committed have gone down, thus keeping the anti-murder folks happy as well.

Hillary, you are out of your mind, and hopefully, soon, you will be out of a job as well.

Best Regards

Sergio

>She calls abortion a "sad, tragic choice," yet she supports it. What a contradiction!

Adam and Eve made
a sad, tragic choice. But God
let them make the choice.

Senator Clinton Speaks of 'Common Ground' on Abortion

By PATRICK D. HEALY

ALBANY, Jan. 24 - Proposing new political language about abortion rights for the Democratic Party, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said today that friends and foes on the issue should come together on "common ground" to reduce the number of "unwanted pregnancies" and ultimately abortions, which she called a "sad, even tragic choice to many, many women."

Mrs. Clinton, in a speech to about 1,000 abortion rights supporters at the state Capitol, firmly restated her support for the Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion nationwide, Roe v. Wade. But then she quickly shifted gears, offering warm words to opponents of abortion - particularly members of religious groups - asserting that there was "common ground" to be found after three decades of emotional and political warfare over abortion.

Mrs. Clinton is widely seen as a possible candidate for the party's presidential nomination in 2008, and her remarks signaled that she could be recalibrating her strong identification with the abortion-rights movement as the Democratic Party engages in its own re-examination of its handling of the issue in the wake of Senator John Kerry's loss in the 2004 presidential race.

Ms. Clinton has been a visible and very public defender of abortion rights, appearing at a huge rally in Washington last spring and denouncing what she called Republican efforts to demonize the abortion rights movement.

While she acknowledged in her address today that Americans have "deeply held differences" over abortion rights, Mrs. Clinton told the annual conference of the Family Planning Advocates of New York State, "I for one respect those who believe with all their heart and conscience that there are no circumstances under which abortion should be available."

In addition to her description of abortion as a "tragic choice" for many," Mrs. Clinton said that faith and organized religion were the "primary" reasons that teenagers abstain from sexual relations, and reminded the audience that during the 1990's, she promoted "teen celibacy" as a way to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies.

"The fact is, the best way to reduce the number of abortions is to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies in the first place," Mrs. Clinton said.

Mrs. Clinton also called today for the Bush administration, religious groups, supporters and opponents of abortion rights and others to look beyond the abortion rights divide and form a broad alliance on other issues that she suggested as less incendiary: sex-education programs for teenagers that included abstinence education, emergency contraception for women who have recently had unprotected intercourse, and family planning.

The speech was also notable for a stream of statistics and data that, Mrs. Clinton's aides said afterward, were included to underscore her view that the reduction of "unwanted pregnancies" could be a unifying issue for supporters and opponents of abortion rights.

At one point, for instance, she drew gasps from some in the audience by mentioning that 7 percent of American women who do not use contraception account for 53 percent of all unintended pregnancies.

Several women in the audience reacted positively to Mrs. Clinton, whose remarks were interrupted by applause several times and ended with a standing ovation. But they also said her language and themes seemed politically calculated to deal with the abortion "freak-out" among Democrats, as one audience member put it, and reach out to independent and conservative voters in hopes of broadening her base of support for a possible 2008 presidential run.

Un-freakin'-believable!! This creature will say anything and do anything to try to consolidate her power base. Let's just hope and pray that there are more of us and less of the brainwashed sheeple come the next election. Can you imagine this harpy in debates spewing her twisted invectives, trying to remember her lies so she can cover new ones? She has lied for so long that I don't think she could tell the truth if she indeed knew what the truth was.

I believe this has a lot more to do with positioning herself for a vote on SC nominee's when they come up during the next four years.

She knows that Bush will nominate a pro life judge to replace Scalia, when he moves up. Hillary cannot come across as too liberal and continue to pose as a moderate democrat.

She is positioning herself in the middle as to look consistent to mute the pro life position during her run for the presidency by voting for a pro life SC judge and confirming Scalia

Common ground?....is still dirt

When good has ANY part of evil...good is diminished and evil takes ground

Then of course evil comes back for the 'next compromise' and the next and the next
until you can no longer tell the difference between good and evil...

That is the reality of Hillary's common ground imo....

Though the funny part is her saying that "organized religion" and faith cause abstinence..

I wonder how she would she and Bill's sitting in the front row of their Little Rock Baptist church....with
Bill singing in the choir on tv every Sunday..and all their public commitment to church going
during their tenure in the White House and how that seems to conflict with Bill's parade of bimbos and her alleged liaisons with Vince Foster...and others...not all of them men...

Won't even get into rape allegations and a sizable group of women victims all ignored by Hillary and the femanazis who love her and who boldly claim their anti mutual rape and pro women's support programs.....

Of course Hillary's version of the common ground of faith, organized religion, and abortion was summed up nicely by a woman who appeared on the 700 Club a few years back.

This woman claimed she was able to literally walk past security unchecked and into the Clinton's inauguration event...and then walk right up to Hillary and tell her give her the message the woman claimed God wanted her to convey to the 1st lady... "God does not want us to kill babies"...

This woman reported that Hillary's face contorted and she literally 'hissed' back..."god wants us to kill babies"...(Hillary probably meant 'her' god)

Like the meaning of the word "is"...the god she worships and the faith in him she talks about
may not be the same God Christians are supposed to worship and have no other God before.

All of Hillary's communictions must be first parsed in Clintonese

imo

Were Adam and Eve happy with their choice? Was God happy with them? Were they able to stay and live in the Garden Of Eden?

Just wait until the next abortion-related vote makes its way to the Senate floor. She can "say" anything she wishes, but, her votes will and do speak much louder.

The only common ground there can be is: Killing babies is morally wrong.

It is not a mother's right to kill her baby. It is a mother's duty and obligation (responsibility)to do everything to protect the baby.

And you can't have it both way: You can't say I wouldn't do it but it's okay if you do it. That statement is an analogy for any crime.
