DFU SONG: Band on the Run(KKK Byrd is the man in the sheet at the Condi hearing)

MIDI - BAND ON THE RUN

(fairly long intro)

Condi is accomplished...that's what really scares them
Off of the plantation...of the DemocRATS
Race-bait DemocRATS
Those DemocRATS
Bitter DemocRATS

They don't know what they're going to do
Like the Whigs they are fading away
They spend all their time lying to you
Their whole party is in disarray
They don't know what they're gonna do

They don't know what they're going to do
Everything has blown up their face
They cannot make a statement that's true
On the Senate floor, what a disgrace
They don't know what they're gonna do

They don't know what they're gonna do
Teddy looked like he's really drunk
He's a man who seldom has a clue
Out of his mouth came foolish bunk
They don't know what they're gonna do
They don't know what they're gonna do

When the hearing started, Boxer took the lead in a sofa-looking coat
Then she stepped aside so that we could hear from a white haired racist goat

Man in the sheet...man in the sheet
For the KKK, Byrd led the way...now this charade's complete
See the man in the sheet...man in the sheet
Now the charade's complete...man in the sheet

It was quite ironic that this anti-black would be getting in his licks
Well, my friends, meet these vile scum DemocRATS...it's a party that is sick

Man in the sheet...man in the sheet
For the KKK, Byrd led the way...now this charade's complete
See the man in the sheet...man in the sheet

He's the man in the sheet...man in the sheet
Charade's complete...man in the sheet

As minorites will finally see what's up, the RATS can never win
We will look at them and with a friendly voice ask, 'Well, where have you guys been?"

Man in the sheet...man in the sheet
For the KKK, Byrd led the way...now this charade's complete
See the man in the sheet...man in the sheet
Charade's complete...man in the sheet

You want to point out where I used the English language poorly exactly? You sound like you are about to bust out bawling because I said your song sucked, you've posted like 10 times rantin' and a ravin'. Your whinging is as redundant as your parody song. Btw, a pop song is a different construct than a parody song. Of course you have repetition in a pop song, that's part of the formula. A parody is a different animal. If you realize that you'll write better comedy. Believe it or not, I actually get paid to write crap like this.

...Paul, I usually love your work, but BAND ON THE RUN uses the line "band on the run" 17 times. You need to me more creative. It is lame.

Yes, and he also authored 'Number 9'

You are correct that I cannot understand the lyrics. From what I heard, I have a suspicion that the lyrics are not going to scan.

Actually that was Lennon, if you are talking about Revolution #9.

dougly, 'whinging' is what you Yanks call whining.

Of course they scan, if they didn't how would I have sung them to fit? The lyrics you wrote wouldn't fit the phrasing even nearly.

Read this one:

Where did I display poor language skillz? I'm sorry to tell you that posting on an internet forum is not the top priority of my life, yes I forgot, I didn't think it was all that important but fear not, I've whipped out a song for you to criticize just now!

Dude I have no idea wtf you are on about. But I'm disappointed, you have no comment on my song? My singing? The guitar, bass, drums, keys, mixing, production, something? I thought it was pretty funny sounding for a quick rip. Its hard as hell to record a decent sounding burp at half-speed, I'll tell you that much, it took a couple dozen takes and a six-pack just to do that. I hope you appreciate the effort I put into a quality burp. The Inna-Gada-Da-Vita part was an accident I was goofing on the drums after I figured I had enough beats for the song so I just added guitar and bass to the pattern and it worked. Happy accidents of production :D

"The lyrics you wrote wouldn't fit the phrasing even nearly."

You are killing me here. How about this -- The lyrics you wrote wouldn't nearly fit the phrasing.

Yanks? Are you a Brit, puppets? An Aussie?

Okay, I'll stop jerking your chain. When I was at the Inauguration, I spent three hours arguing in the street with the protestors. It is just sometimes a fun thing to do.

As I said earlier, I wrote the lyrics to fit a MIDI so the FReepers could play the music and sing the song. It is more fun to have the music than to say --- "sung to the tune of....."

Your criticism appeared to me to be condescending and arrogant rather than constructive. Yes, you are free to be nasty here. I thought I would just stick it back to you, and you made it fairly easy. When criticizing someone on this forum, it is helpful to be grammatical and cogent. If you are not, you open yourself up for a counterpunch. I will defer to your superior musical skills, but you really do need to work on language skills. The use of the written word is important on a forum that contains what we write.

My first parody CD is expected to be out in February. I will welcome constructive criticism without a cheap shot. I'm proud of the songs and hope people will enjoy them.

This is repetitive, but it has been played and enjoyed around the world --- THE BALLAD OF MIKE MORAN - click on "music" and download the song A few years ago, I went to New York and joined our friend Mike Moran for some serious beer drinking. If you don't know the story, he lost his brother on 9-11 -- a FReeper and Battalion Commander John Moran. We miss him greatly.

My reaction to the song. Let's see. What would be appropriate? I know. I've got it. ----

you song doesn't really scan at all
If you are going to make parody lyrics the lyrics should scan properly, and try making the verses rhyme. Other than that the lyrics aren't particularly funny or clever. Sorry, can't cheerlead this just because it slams Dems. Writing parody lyrics is an art. This ain't art. Its lame.

You have no conception of how hard it is for a non-American to burp with a Boston accent, but I think I pulled it off ok, anyone would swear its a Kennedy "buhp". My W. Virginia accent is more like a generic Southern U. S. accent though, I never heard Byrd speak that I can remember. The chipmunk/congresspersons' accent is impeccable, though, I do believe. I also played the mandolin on that, plus there's a chordovox in the choruses but its mixed way back. I didn't have anyone to work the booth while I played so I had to guess on some of the levels and when I pinged them to the same channels you can't separate them later, so some stuff got lost, like the harmony mandolin on the Inna-Gadda-Da-Vita part and some of "Teddy's" Van Halenish tapping at the end.

Pft. Your critique style is as unique, original and witty as your parody. I was hoping for a real slam-dance deconstruction of my work, but I guess copy/paste is your forte. Cheers.

Yes, it sounded creative and appeared that you put some effort into it. I am clueless on understanding the lyrics, so provide them for us. And you didn't choose any of the 10 subjects I gave you. Maybe we will actually get along here. Of the 1500 parodies I've written, there are probably a few you might actually enjoy.

Gee, I wrote 74 while you were composing 73. It remains to be seen whether we will get along. I am disappointed that you didn't do one of the 10 subjects I provided. Give us the lyrics, and I'll take a look at them. If they are funny, I will give you an honest assessment. They were promised in a few minutes over an hour ago and I have to get up early for weekend trip. Waiting.

heh I figured you weren't interested because you made no comment on the song at all

I'll figure them out hang on, I don't know them from memory they've never been written down yet, I just did a scratch track of whatever came to mind, then changed a line at a time to try to make sense of it all, I don't know if its a cohesive whole, you be the judge ;)

gimme ten mins

Some of the lyrics I changed between during and after recording, this is one version, a few lines are different I think.

Song is here: The Confirmation Song by Sen. Robert "Dave Seville" Byrd and the Congressmunks [Byrd] Well Senators, as I'm sure you're all aware, its Confirmation Time once again, and just as sure as I hate miscegenation, I hate George Dubya Bush and all his evil works. So are you ready to stand with me, Congresswoman Pelosi, for pandering and demagoguing? [Pelosi] I'm ready [Byrd] Senator Boxer, for weepin' and a-wailin'? [Boxer] waaaaaaaaaahhh! [Byrd] And Senator Kennedy, you ready? Teddy? Teddy! TEDDY!! [Kennedy] Uh, yeah I'm ready [Democrats] Nomination time is here Time to sneer and time to jeer Kerry lost but we're not sad Ohio made a nice fundraising ad [Pelosi]I'll call Condi George Bush's houseslave [Boxer]I'll blame Gonzales for Abu Ghraib [Democrats]Our constituents salivate (When) Democrats demagogue and den-i-grate [Byrd] Well that was might fine, mighty fine Senators. Uh, Senator Boxer, you were a little flat on that weepin' and a-wailin' [Boxer] Won't somebody please think of the children? [Byrd] Nancy Pelosi, you might wanna shoot a little more Botox in your forehead, I think I discerned an emotional wrinkle. [Pelosi] Hehehehehehehe okay! [Byrd] Senator Kennedy, put down that Chivas and leave that intern alone. Teddy! Teddy!! TEDDY!! [Kennedy] BURP! Yassah! [Democrats] We can't win, don't have the votes But its Oscar time as Barb emotes Nine more hours of debate Make Moveon moonbats cyber-donate [Boxer]Next week its the Attorney Gen. [Pelosi]"Antonio trashed the Geneva Conven.!" [Democrats]But with Teddy's clout I'm sure we'll muster The votes to sustain a fil-i-buster We can hardly stand the wait For Hillary in oh-eight [Byrd] Well that was purty good.. [Pelosi] Hey, I wanna do my song now... [Boxer] Yeah I have a drum solo I play here, its really cool... [Byrd] Now wait.. I don't think the time is appropriate for... [Kennedy] My Stratocastah plugs into the Mah-shall and I do this 2 hand tapping technique... [Byrd] Now just a minute [divebomb] [Pelosi & Boxer] Inna Gadda Da Vida honey, don't you know that I love you?... [Byrd] Point of order, Mr. Chairman, Ms. Pelosi, Sen Boxer... Teddy! Teddy!! TEDDY!! [Boxer] Let's see Christine Todd Whitman play double kick fills like that [Pelosi] Kay Bailey Hutchenson, eat your heart out [Kennedy] Sh*t- broke a string [fade out]
