Yeah, I agree about Kristofferson and Nelson, but was Cash truly a lib in a political sense? I know he was a born again Christian at least at the end, so perhaps he wasn't a Dem supporter anymore.
Good point. I just wish entertainers would shut up about their political preferences. There are some entertainers I like who I would prefer to continue liking and not be distracted by their politics.
For example, I like Gretchen Wilson. I don't want to one day hear her start telling me why I should vote for Hillary Clinton. I always enjoy Sandra Bullock movies and she keeps her politics to herself. She may be a liberal, but at least she isn't in my face telling me why I'm a moron for voting for Bush or how a vote for Bush is a vote to legalize rape (like that deep thinker Cameron Diaz said).
Of course they have every right to voice those opinions, but then they need to accept that they are going to lose some fans and not complain that they are victims of "censorship".
Tim McGraw is a poser country boy. He has to live off other people writing his songs. Never was a fan of his. Too much of a phony. But this is the first I heard of his support of Kerry and Demonrats. He is the ba*tard product of two adulterers however. Wonder how his mother's husband reacted when he learned of her pregnancy with a child from a one-night stand.
Do people still buy CD's?
I think Johnny was kind of an enigma. He wasn't liberal or conservative, republican or democrat. He just had his beliefs and didn't really care where they fell.
She rules a smokey kingdom. Her scepter is a wine glass, and a bar stool is her throne.
In the early 60's I had the misfortune to attend a party at Yoko Ono's apartment/loft/urinal. To to this day I have never met a more diverse herd of human rejects (excepting possibly when visiting DU)as the people at that party. If my hazy memory of that horrific night is right the hightlight of the night was Yoko playing a homemade instrument which sounded like a cross between a man being punched in the testicles and a tuba filled with water.
Well, I shouldn't laugh at that but they way you put it I couldn't help it. :)
That being said, I saw her in the early 1970's, and got to meet her. She was both beautiful and gracious. I have no idea whether she swings both ways or not, but I do know that she and Lily Tomlin helped do fundraising for Ann Richards and the rest of the Texas lesbian connection.
"Dolly Parton is the best. She's got Mountains on her chest!" --- Schoolyard Rhyme from Third Grade.
Calling yoko an "artist" is pretty funny.
"There's no such thing as baaad publicity!"
Sorry, I'm not looking for a flame war and I'm not a "let's boycott everything that doesn't support republicans 100%!!" kind of person.
I have my brand/stores/entertainers I won't buy products from for my own reasons, but it is simply not realistic to boycott everything that does not fall in line 100% with conservative political beliefs/views unless I want to live in a hut in the deep woods like the unabomber.
Or just making a buck.
'When you talk about proud support, my Grandfather was one of the founders of Silver Dollar City (now owned by Dollywood) and one of the original Shepherds of the Hills. I used to be very proud of the Ozarks and the Table Rock region...'
Then you should be even more particular about technical accuracy. HFE Corporation, the current owners of Silver Dollar City, described below from a current press release, is still in the hands of Peter and Jack Herschend, sons of the original founder who purchased Marvel Cave in the 1940's/50's. The post below describes the relationship between HFE and Dolly Parton. Dolly's financial interest is in the Dollywood brand, not Silver Dollar City. HFE partners with Parton in Dollywood.
A link to the HFE's corporate mission statement, which invokes Christianity, is included below. If guilt by association is a problem, which it may very well be in this case, there is contact information at the web site.
As clarification...

Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation (HFE) owns, operates or partners in nineteen properties in nine states. Properties include Branson, Missouris Silver Dollar City theme park, Showboat Branson Belle lake attraction, White Water water park, The Grand Village shops, Talking Rocks Cavern, The Wilderness at Silver Dollar City campground and Celebration City theme park. HFE is an operating partner with Dolly Parton in the Dollywood Company, which owns the Dollywood theme park and
Dollywoods Splash Country water park, both in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The Dollywood Company is also the largest shareholder in the Dixie Stampede dinner
attractions located in Branson, Pigeon Forge, Myrtle Beach and Orlando. In Georgia, HFE operates Atlantas Stone Mountain Park in conjunction with the State of Georgia.
HFE also partners with Ride the Ducks amphibious tours in Branson, Baltimore, Seattle, Boston and Philadelphia.
I know it's a joke. I was making my own joke about those gawdawful asian stringed instruments. That includes the sitar and whatever that thing from Japan is called.
Ahh. Well, if it makes it any better, those aren't even tuned diatonically so "E#" is meaningless in that context too!
