Now if only we can legalize gay marriage in the entire US, the world will be a much better place. What say you, VKs? I smell something here....

Doesn't Idaho already have marriage laws that describe marriage correctly? Probably they are not voting against gay marriage ban because they think they already have it covered, and besides, they don't want to face any more bigotry charges from the media.
Can some Idahoan please explain?

Idaho has a relatively large contingent of libertarians.

Could be, but not necessarily.
Note atomicpossum's post - this is namby-pamby legislators we're talking about. Most of them (regardless of political stripe) practice CYA above all else. They think that they can't do the people's business" if they can't keep their jobs.
This is a cowardly fallacy. It begs the question: If you don't want to represent me NOW, why would I want to vote for you NEXT TIME?
It's not too late!

Tell us why you think making gay marriage legal would make the world a better place?

I respect the opinions of others, and I would be delighted if they could do the same.Translation: "I have no moral standards whatsoever. I wish everyone would be more like me."
Gay marriage is a complete ruse. Most gays/lesbians aren't even interested in it. The real goal is to dilute the meaning of "marriage." The homosexual lobby is intent on destroying the family, nothing more and nothing less.
Intolerance for barely-disguised war against the crucial institution of the family is no vice.

Conservatism in the North-West has a more libertarian orientation than, for example, in the South. This vote is not a big suprise to me.

First of all, gays are not being told they can't get married, they just can't marry somebody of the same sex. Therefore, they are not being discrimated against anymore than somebody who wants to marry two wives or two husbands is being discriminated against. Do you think that also should be legal?

Well I live in the NW, and the conservatives here are every bit as conservative as elsewhere. The only problem in Wash. State is we ain't in power. IN Idaho, there is no excuse.
