The fools actually believe that the way to win the hearts and minds of the American public is to move FARTHER left and increase their attack-dog antics. I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.

Worth the full read. Are you sure this needs to be excerpted?

I agree this was a great article! The cluelessness of John Kerry was amazing to see. Most presidential losers keep quiet for a year or two after the election ... but Noooooo, not Kerry. And his political tin ear was on display for all to see. No one should "over-hype" the Iraqi elections!?!

Thousands gave their lives so those elections could take place ... exemplified by "the Hug" during the State of the Union address. If not success like this, what should be "over-hyped"? Oh, I know. Whether or not French or German chancellors blow a kiss our way! Kerry redefines and personalizes every nuance of the word, "LOSER".

The Rats will tell you the Ohio was stolen. They refuse to admit that when your message is garbage you're going to lose. Democratic Party is a perfect example of the garbage in, garbage out principle.

It will soon be time for a centrist Republican party to spin free. I see the democratic party being reduced to the 3rd party state, fighting for votes against Nader.

There are those McCain supporters within our group that need their own party and those who are hard right.

Perhaps in the next dozen years.

What I'm interested in thought, is how all the laws the dems had enacted over the last 2 elections to prevent a 3rd party from getting on the ballots in dem states will affect this.

I mean, if the repub party splits, would the dems be so small as to be reducted to the 3rd party, thus not being able to get on the ballot because of their own laws?

Or would it be a disaster, splitting the repub vote, which would let the dems take the majority of popular vote over a split repub party.

Not sure on either front, hard to speculate, and it may not even happen, because when push comes to shove, repubs core values generally force them to stick together on common ground, unlike the dems who are constantly in-fighting.

I mean, even if McCain were to declare a run for office, many would be unhappy, but would come together to support him over Hillary.

I don't think he would win the nomination, as he would come out and attack the swifties, etc, thus giving ammo to sKerry.

Oh, I'm babbling here, because the possibilities are endless, but rest assured '06 is going to be an interesting election year for some and '08 is going to be really fun to watch.

I am exceedingly pleased to see that Evan Bayh's opportunism has been noticed by a national columnist. I have been angry at his vote for a week, and angry at the Hoosiers who were hoodwinked by his faux centrism.

This is a great summary of the last week, and well worth reading.

Just as Republicans must be true to their principles, Democrats must remain true to their lack of principles.

The way the Democrats see it - they almost won. If a couple of votes in Ohio had gone the other way... So this is a way to appeal to the most energetic and lucrative part of their base, like MoveOn.org, Dean supporters, Hollywood. Kerry raised a tremendous amount of money from supporters on the internet - far more than Al Gore ever raised when he was running for President. There's not much money to be found in the middle-of-the roaders.

We had our conservative pundits encouraging us during the Clinton Administration that what we were seeing was the death of the Democratic Party. They had the political vision to see past the horizon and understand that the Average Joe would tolerate less and less the extremes of Liberals.

Yes, it was close in Florida, and close again, by some standards, in Ohio; but the big shift is starting to happen.

The future of any viable political process in our nation is to be inclusive, not exclusive. With the track record of Bush43, and the opportunity he has provided in his appointments sends a message, not only to U.S. voters, but around the world.

The Iraqis have witnessed the courage and conviction of this President. We have the advantage of hind-sight, what would it have been under a President Al Gore Jr., or under a JFK II?

After 911, the average joe heard our president promise those first-responders in NYC, that the terrorists would soon hear from us about what they did. Many of the liberals, in their heart of hearts, would shudder at the response that Gore, or even sKerry would have brought.

Mr. Bush had brought a sense of validity to the Conservative moment. Validity being - You can expect a certain outcome, based on past performance. And our political process is currently performing in a powerful way.

Just observe Condi Rice. Just observe our new Attorney General. And [crystal ball time] just observe our next Chief Justice.

I believe Mr. Bush has the courage to appoint Justice Thomas to be the Chief Justice, and by observing his life performance, Justice Thomas is the most valid candidate for the position.

Excellent article!

She nails it with these sentences:

And there you have the real vision gap between the two parties: Republicans want to win wars and spread freedom; Democrats want to save their rear ends. Bush thinks freedom is better than terror and tyranny; Democrats think they are better than Bush. In 2004, Bush made it clear he was willing to lose on the basis of his convictions -- and won in spite or more likely because of this. Democrats had no convictions beyond the end goal of winning, and therefore quite properly lost.

He just got reelected this past November. Aaargh!

Here is what he does: he goes on all the local talk shows and portrays himself as a reasonable centrist, all the while running fuzzy feel-good ads filmed through gauze of him and his family.

Then he goes to DC and acts like a liberal. I have been ranting about this occasionally on the local radio show when I call in, but it has yet to come to the attention of the majority of people in this state.

We only have one major paper in this state, and they were taken over by Gannett. They give Bayh pretty positive coverage, although I noticed that Andrea Neal has finally spoken up.

It is absolutely the most frustrating situation, and I have no idea how to stop it. Bayh won here by a larger margin than the President, even though we elected a Republican governor as well.

The Democrats are longing for that feeling they had in the 1990s when the Clinton administration did nothing, yet took credit as the world economy ramped up thanks to the new infrastructure of the Internet, and the absence of the Soviet Union threat.

In fact, the Dems remind me of the story of the egotist who stood on the beach and ordered the ocean tide waters first to recede and then to return.

When the waters did as he asked, he declared himself to be the most powerful man in the world.

Can you imagine if Kerry had won the 2004 election? They would already be claiming credit for the economic recovery which began in 2003 and is getting stronger each month.
