Personally, I can't understand why any sane person(s) would choose to have a grand opening at midnight. Why kind of customers are you appealing to. Not everyone who is up at midnight is a nut but there's a better chance of getting decent, calm folks out at 10:00 a.m. than midnight. JMHO

IKEA opens in Atlanta early this summer.

I have to confess that some of their stuff is great - we bought our bookcase and our china cabinet nearly 20 years ago from IKEA near DC; they're still holding up fantastically.

Just damn.

If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...

Would someone clue me in to the appeal of IKEA????
A friend of mine and his wife are addicted to IKEA but I don't see why.

I was at the New Haven IKEA on Wednesday. (It was on my way to Trader Joe's which I love.) It's not where I would buy my living room or dining room furniture but they have great bookcases (the kind to hold books, not for decoration)and storage units. One thing their bookcases have that most don't is the little cutout in the back for your baseboard so that the unit goes right up against the wall. I bought my first bookcase from them about 10 years ago for $79 and it looks brand new. They also have great baskets and that kind of stuff.

Um, why did they open at midnight? Did they WANT to provide prey for the night-crawlers? (Sounds like that's what happened to the guy who was stabbed... it was NOT done by a crazed furniture shopper!)
