"trans fats in its cooking oils"
They are in hundreds of products in our grocery stores.
Personal responsibility must replace P.C. nonsense!

McDonald's has agreed to pay $8.5 million to settle a lawsuit over artery-clogging trans fats in its cooking oils, the company said on Friday. McDonald's said it will donate $7 million to the American Heart Association and spend another $1.5 million to inform the public of its trans fat plans.
Hmmm, there were no legal fees? I find that strange. Only money for the Heart Association and public service advertising?
Interesting how these lawsuit reporters never seem to be interested in lawyer fees. You don't think there might be -- gasp -- bias do you?

That's like tossing a quarter into a panhandlers cup. McD sells $8.5 million in fries every 3 hours.

The settlement is the result of litigation from a San Francisco area activist who has been seeking to raise public awareness of the health dangers from the trans fatty acids (TFAs) in hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. Why should his efforts to "raise awareness" come out of anybody's pocket but his own?????

The settlement is the result of litigation from a San Francisco area activist
And the main beneficiary is the trial lawyers who collected huge fees for bringing the lawsuit.

The elimination of Trans-fat in foods is very good news.
It's a shame everyone doesn't quit understand why. Trans-fat is like glue in your arteries. The arteries aren't the large veins going to and from your heart supplying the rest of your body. The arteries are the tiny veins supplying blood to the muscles of your heart. Those veins become clogged, your heart stops and you die.
Transfat isn't important in foods much less french fries. Trans-fat is put in cookies, cakes, candy and crackers just to make them crispy after being on the shelves for too long. It's also put in canned and packaged foods that's bought at the grocery store. It's causing a national epidemic even among people who watch their weight and exercise because it's a hidden danger for people who don't read the nutritional labels on the foods they eat.

Stephen Joseph, a lawyer who founded BanTransFats.com, sued McDonald's over complaints the firm did not properly inform the public that it had encountered delays in plans to lessen the trans fats in its cooking oils. Let me guess. The founder of BanTransFats, which may or may not be a 501(c)(3), is going to receive some sort of grant from McDonald's to promote public understanding of the horrors of "trans fats". How much salary and other bennies is this guy going to pull out of BanTransFats.com?
I'm sure Joseph is primarily motivated by concern for the health of his fellow Americans, and not by any sort of personal ambition. LOL.

Teacher: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Student: Fat.
Teacher: Why?
Student: So I can be rich.
Teacher: What makes you think being fat will make you rich?
Student: I'll sue the fast-food restaurant's for selling me food I know I shouldn't be eating.
