In the Blogosphere, Lightning Strikes Thrice
MD4Bush posted, "Yeah, he cheats on his wife. I heard that he is not allowed in the house and is living in some new high-rise near city hall."
link
NCPAC posted that no one can figure out how he was outed.

What we do know-- MD4Bush was the source of some FR mails the WP got. You can see that from his gloating posts on 02/08/2005.
link Looking back at his posts now he was a provacatuer and is from MD.
link. The only reasonable surmise is that this was a Democratic partisan in the area. Nobody outside the MD area is going to be interested in something like this. At the time of the threads on O'Mally we had several new posters commenting on it and they have not been back.

You cannot get away with inaccuracies, spin, or even a mild manipulation of readers like this without someone immediately taking you to task. RE: a Doug Duncan supporter trying to take him down in the primary
I thought about this whole thing over the weekend and what you wrote here appears to be quite plausible. A real threefer, smear Erlich, take out a good behind-the-scenes guy (Steffen) and smear MOM all in one shot. Straight from the WJC School of Political Shenanigans.

Somewhat of a digression. It's just sad the extent to which this whole thing proves the old infamous adage "repeat a lie often enough"....
Suddenly, the MSM and numerous left leaning and supposedly "apolitical" blogs and sites are out there saying, in essence "yah, Joe Steffen, created the nasty rumor about MOM, got caught" etc. It is clear that none of them have actually looked at a year's worth of Steffen's posts the way a number of us have. Because if they did, they'd see that Steffen, while perhaps a bit naive about being scammed by trolls and eventually hunted down by the mean and nasties, was not a "prince of darkness" or a liar. But they can't let the truth get in the way of their preconceieved notions of us EEEeeeevil conservatives (to Lefty lurkers, picture me, for example, with my Scrooge scowl, my ancient, ancient three piece suit, with gold watch hanging there, sentencing, daily, thousands of orphaned children to work on their hands and knees in the coal mines! ;)

It wouldn't surprise me either. Duncan is that kind of politician.

I regret to add this, but this also shows how easy it is for the Democrats to invalidate the content on this board. A few 'newbies' can try and smear an entire site, and they can have the Washington comPost back them up on it. Carling, the Democrats and the Post Toasties (but I repeat myself...) have been trying to invalidate the content on this board since 1997.
They ain't succeeded yet, but they've ALWAYS succed. ;-)

well yall I've been posting under the Baltimore sun for a while but not under this name. Anonymity is a most as we all can see. It is a little hard if you do not read everything and just browse. Everything is starting to come together.
When will Md4bush be revealed because this is the source and heart of this story whether it is the tip of the iceberg or whole berg itself? Like everybody else I do not see Ncpac guilty of anything except asking questions. Sorry if nobody knows me yet just found out about you guys a few days ago but ya been getting great press coverage.

The popular assumption that the MD4Bush from October of last year is the same MD4Bush who posted a few days ago is dubious and unproven.I agree that it is not proven, but I don't think that the "assumption" is dubious.
Viewing the posts and freepmails of MD4Bush in their totality, the October MD4Bush was goading people and trying to entrap them. Specifically, he was trying to get them to them into make irresponsible statements.
More recently MD4Bush simply posted the FReepmails on an unrelated thread at the same time as the WP was printing much of them. That is consistent with his prior conduct as he apparently was trying to make it look like the WP might have gotten the private freepmail off the public posting by him.
Therefore, I respectfully ask why you think that it is dubious to believe the same person was MD4Bush and was posting and freepmailing in insidious ways to damage FR and Ehrlich on both occasions.
Having said all that, which of the following do you think would be violative of the ECPA?
(1) Person, without authorization, accesses another's computer when the person goes to lunch. Prints off FReepmails and gives them to the WP. (2) Person buys another's used computer, finds FReepmail stored on it's hard drive and reveals the FReepmails.
(3) Person buys another's used computer, finds that FR is in his favorites, goes to FR which automatically logs him in as MD4Bush (using the stored cookie), prints the FReepmails accessed from FR servers, and gives the copies to the WP.

Because the recent activities associated with the MD4Bush account are inconsistent with the comments of MD4Bush last October. They're like two different persons.
I think all three of the scenarios you outlined are potential violations of the ECPA, and they are plausible explanations for what happened. If the initial interception was accidental, the disclosure of the emails to the WP would invalidate any good-faith exceptions.

When will Md4bush be revealed because this is the source and heart of this story whether it is the tip of the iceberg or whole berg itself? In any case, MD4Bush is a disruptor and is clearly here to cause trouble for FReepers. My advice would be that Jim ought to put out MD4Bush's identity immediately. NCPAC lost his job over this incident. Considering MD4Bush's behavior in this incident, I think he ought to lose hi sas well.

No offense, but since you signed up on the 10th and have only two posts, I need to call this fact to attention.
