"...According to Scheuer, the tiny nation of Israel is not a valuable ally in the Middle East, but instead the author of a vast conspiracy to hijack the direction of American foreign policy. Scheuer explained to the CFR crowd that Israel dictates the course of its relationship with the United States. He explained, "we can no longer afford to be seen as the dog that's led by the tail." Scheuer further warned, "I don't think we can afford to be led around, or at least appear to be led around by them."
So, not only has Israel "covertly" targeted the U.S. Congress, used the Holocaust Museum to make Americans "feel guilty," controlled the "the extent and even the occurrence of an important portion of political discourse [in the U.S.]," but it has also made it exceedingly "dangerous" for Scheuer to discuss this grand scheme.
In offering his appraisal of Israel's clandestine activities, Scheuer told the CFR audience that he wished "our clandestine service could do as well." Indeed, reforming this nation's clandestine service is a top priority for the new director of Central Intelligence, Porter Goss. But as Goss moves forward with his reformation of the CIA, perhaps we can get a better understanding of the challenges he faces by remembering Scheuer's views on the U.S.-Israeli relationship. If his opinions are widely held by other members of the CIA, then Goss has more work to do than any of us previously imagined."

I've heard this "theory" before - from some very screwy in the head folk - they're worse than the little green men people
It wouldn't surprise me if Scheuer was on the Moslem payroll in order to drive a wedge between the U.S. and Isreal. This is an old trick that they have repeatedly used, as recently as several days ago when they blamed Isreal for blowing up the former Lebanese Prime Minister.
Don't tread on Isreal, unless one like walking around on nubs.

Like you I've seen and read Scheuer multiple times, and I can't makes heads or tails of his positions. He is extremely contradictory and a very shoddy thinker.
On this single topic of Israel he does seem to whine a lot. Guess he hasn't realized that Israel is our only real strategic and democratic ally in the Middle East, and is worth protecting.
If this is the way the guy thinks and speaks, its no wonder that he was in charge of the OBL task force at CIA for 6 years, and that nothing happened.
He showed up at the big Terrorism conference in DC a few weeks back, and they stood in awe of him. But it must have been due to his undue celebrity, because (as usual) nothing he said or asked made any sense whatsoever.
The guy is a geek showboater. He should get a real job.
One doesn't normally try to remember nonsensical utterances. But I can attest and do second that Scheuer is in the habit of saying things that don't "hang together" very well.
I will assert that *every* time I've seen him, without exception, I listen and try to understand what his actual and fundamental point or position might be, but come up empty.
In fact I've seriously wondered whether he has some sort of disconnect between his cognitive and speech faculties. Really, he's that bad.
I predict that one of these days, Scheuer will be found dead in bed with Scott Ritter.

Of course we can't forget you guys, or the Brits right now. It's just that there is a special connection between the US and Israel, that doesn't mean we don't have other true allies.
Only as long as we keep funneling tons of cash and equipment to them.

Noam Chomsky's one claim to fame, IIRC "Comparative Lingusitics" is just as made up as Ward Churchill's "scholarship", with no empirical verification. Another slick-talking snake oil salesman.

One that bothered me was his statement that most of the Jewish terrorism experts were just "shills for the State of Israel", therefore we must discount everything they say.
Interesting, but I was looking for antisemitic (more precisely, anti-Jewish) comments of his, or examples of where he contradicted himself.

Australia is our nation's first and best ally and its People are of the same quality of ally as are the Nation of Israel and the Israelis.
