The Rev. John M. D'Arcy, bishop of the Fort Wayne-South Bend diocese of the Catholic Church, released the following statement regarding the production of "The Vagina Monologues" at The University of Notre Dame.
It has been customary at this time of the year for many institutions of higher learning, including, regrettably, Catholic institutions, to present something called "The Vagina Monologues." Alas, even our beloved University of Notre Dame is presenting it again, as it has for the past several years, under the official sponsorship of three departments.
The bishop is the teacher within his diocese, bearing special responsibility before God to shed light on moral issues, especially when the souls of young people are involved; not his own light, but the light that comes from the Gospel, from the teachings of Christ and the Church. To be sure that I have understood what is at stake here, and conscious of the importance of proper research at all times, but especially when dealing with an institution of higher learning, I have read and studied the text in question.

uh oh - firestorm brewing -he'll be gone within a week unless the most powerful alumni association steps forward --
I think this means that ND has not been as "gay-friendly" as most schools, including Catholic schools. Evidently, though, university officials are so afraid of feminist backlash that they won't back down on this one.
I would NEVER have Catholics involved with my vagina.
Catholics have often been accused of being obsessed with sex and sexual sin but the story of the Vagina Monologues negates that charge. It is the secularists who would use sex and its symbols by talking about it incessantly and parading it everywhere, to reduce it's true significance and place in our lives.
The Bishop places this in perspective. The administrators at Notre Dame, trying to be oh so modern and up to date contribute to the demeaning of their own faith. Shame on them.
Welcome to FR.
Like I said before, if a woman wants to act and believe that the sum total of her being is defined by what's between her legs - it just means she has finally evolved to where feminists claim men have been since time began. For many with this belief it represents a vast improvement.
Go play in traffic....
They feel compelled to put on this "play" every year? I think the author has figured out a scam with some feminist groups to get the thing constantly produced.
Recently The Vagina Monologues were performed here at Oklahoma State. The next day the school paper ran an article entitled "Vagina's on Display". That is an attention grabber.

Well, as I'VE said before, I've never had "affairs" unless they were catered; as in a catered Wedding Reception, LOL!
Have you seen the Vagina Monologues? I was greatly surprised that some of it was worthwhile; the parts about women that had been vicitimized in wars and by male relatives they trusted, etc. The rest was sensationalistic trash. All in all, the world could've lived without it.
I rented the video. I couldn't begin to imagine the "squirm factor" of having seen it with my Mom or Grandma, or even some of my closest female friends at a live performance, but I wanted to be informed. I usually don't d@mn things until I've seen them with my own two eyes.
Do you ask their religion before you say Yes?
Mmmmmmmmm...yuuummmy!!!!!

All lies need to wear some truth, just to be let in the door. You were fooled.
My mom and aunt went to Catholic school back in the '50's and, apparently, those nuns can be quite scary.

Nothing wrong with schooling yourself in what the enemy is up to, and taking your shot when ready. Forewarned is forearmed.
Learned that in Sniper School. ;)
If that were the case, then none of us would read ANYTHING posted here (or on TV or in our local newspapers) that's written by Leftists, would we? We couldn't follow the daily antics of Kerry, Dean, The HildaBeast, et al, if that were the case. :)
