Hey wait a minute... Didn't we see this in the James Bond movie?
But isn't the preferred method of assassination in the DPRK by automobile accident? Two of Mr. Kim's wives went that way I think.

"....between the night of Nov. 28 and the early morning of Nov. 29, there was a family gathering...during which shots were fired, and fights erupted." Sounds like your typical West Virginia Thanksgiving....

Well, then, we'll just have to take it up a notch.

Kim Jong-Il must have used his ability to see the matrix, and slowed down time to the extent that he was able to dodge the bullet. The he used his master level martial arts skills to personally subdue his brother in-law, followed by the Vulcan Nerve Pinch, to knock him unconscious so he could be taken for interrogation. Which will be personally performed by Il. I was thinking the same thing.

North Korean Peoples Army Major: "Dear Leader, we have created new control console for you. You can determine what all the people in the DPRK are saying and doing and control them accordingly with this button here."
Kim Jong-il: "This button here?"
Major: "Yes, Dear Leader."
KJI: "Great. Now what is this button?"
Major: "Dear Leader, that is the button that controls all the p$rn video feeds from Hollywood, all the new movies just off the presses."
KJI: "Tremendous, can I use either hand to push the button?"
Major: "Yes, Dear Leader."
KJI [excitedly]: Fantastic! And what is this button over here?"
Major: "Dear Leader, that is the button that will fire our Dong-3 nuclear missiles toward the western United States."
KJI [rabid foaming at the mouth]: "Awesome. Finally, I will right the wrongs inflicted on my father by those capitalist dogs! Finally, I can unite the Korean peninsula under my inspired leadership! Finally, I will assume my place among the world powers and other leaders must treat me as an equal! Finally, I will show them who is, who is ... boss? Major, why does it say "Glass Factory" above the button for the nuclear missiles?"
Major: "Dear Leader, that is what the Americans say they will turn the DPRK into if you fire your nukes at them."
KJI [meekly]: "Major, where is that p$rn button again?"
