WASHINGTON, Feb. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The foreign-born population in the United States numbered 34.2 million in 2004, accounting for 12 percent of the country's total population, figures released by the Census Bureau on Tuesday showed.

The number of foreign-born population was 2.3 percent higher than that in 2003.

Of the foreign-born population, 53 percent were born in Latin America, 25 percent in Asia, 14 percent in Europe and the remaining 8 percent in other regions of the world, such as Africa and Oceania.

Second-generation Americans, which are natives with one or both parents born in a foreign country, numbered 30.4 million in 2004, accounting for 11 percent of the total US population, according to the Census Bureau, which conducted the survey of 62,500 households in March 2004.

About 6 million immigrants arrived in the United States since 2000, 59 percent of them from Latin America and 23 percent from Asia. These immigrants are more educated than those who came in the late 1990s, according to Census Bureau data.

Should I give you your food at the airport's gate or should I give it to you after I give you your roses? ;)

Does not matter if these immigrants share my political views, I would be against these hordes overruning the US. Most of them, however, don't share our values. We already have too many people. They create enviromental, economic, and many other problems. A great many of them certainly pose a security threat.

Sure you're in the right forum?

Perhaps the elitist zero population chat group would suit you better. I suppose you are perfect as well. LOL!!!!

"For the most part, their views are not the same as Wille's."

Well that's one thing to be ever so grateful for.

I trust Willie's insight more than yours.

Willie post an article which effects every American and at your first post you pull the race card. What did you think that would accomplish?

I'm in favor of putting a complete halt to all third-world immigration. Not just until the current unassimilated millions become Americanized (if that ever happens), but for the forseeable future. If we don't, American culture will be annihilated within a generation.

Only India and China have more people than the United States.

More people means more laws and less freedom.

We are overcrowded enough!

The United States is already the third most populated country on earth.

Only India and China have more people.

When will your kind be happy?

When we're all forced to live in urban population centers, while eminent domain siezes all rural land to be used for crops, windfarms, and the occassional "wilderness" museum?

As it's already been pointed out, these numbers are lower than they were at the turn of the last century. This is much hullabaloo over nothing.

At the turn of the last century America's population was only 76 million people, so we still had room to spare.

Now we have nearly 300 million, so we have enough people, and we sure don't need any more.

Yeah, the Sierra Club also says people are a blight upon the Goddess Mother Earth. How can we rewrite that pesky DOI Preamble's statement on inalienable rights to conform with our shallow, humanist worldview?!
