LONDON, February 24, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams said that schism is imminent unless US and Canadian churches stop ordaining homosexual bishops and solemnizing same-sex unions.
Leaders of the 77-million-member Anglican Communion are meeting at a retreat this week in Northern Ireland, to discuss and try to resolve the issue.
Should the call to halt and find ways of continuing in our present communion not be heeded, then we shall have to begin to learn to walk apart, the Archbishop said Tuesday, as reported by the Washington Times.
There will be no cost-free outcome from this, he said. To put it as bluntly as I can, there are no clean breaks in the Body of Christ.
The controversy began when a US congregation ordained the openly homosexual Gene Robinson as bishop for a New Hampshire diocese.
The Anglican Communion called on the US and Canadian churches to express regret for their positions on gay clergy and recognition of same-sex unions, and to promise it will discontinue ordaining homosexual bishops and blessing same-sex unions.
Bishop Frank T. Griswold, who presided over the ordination of Robinson, is prelate of the US Episcopal Church. He said the US was sorry for causing the problem, but that their position is unlikely to change.

The new bishop receives a miter from his partner, Mark Andrew.

The ECUSA is the tail that is trying to wage the Anglican dog, indeed the whole Christian kennel. More like a plague of fleas.

Actually, the controversy began when Bishop Pike was not reprimanded. This is just a symptom.
Based on his own admission, he is not sorry. If he was, he would DO the right thing and cease this repugnant practice rather than saying his position is unlikely to change. Just because it reveals more of man's fallen nature is no reason to accept it. Otherwise, why bother with Grace.
Huh? The pope is Catholic; V.G. Robinson is Anglican.

The moral insanity of the bishops, priests, deacons and lay members who have pushed the Gay Agenda on our church will not allow morality in their game plan. They will continue push their moral insanity until we have a split in our church/churches.
If a schism occurs (Note: I'm Catholic, not Anglican), I will place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Episcopal hierarchy. May God forgive them.
"But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea."

The only thing that Frank and his other sellers of morality insanity are sorry about is the uproar that continues. Frank condones the moral insanity gay agendas pushed by the gay bishops and priests.

If this sodmite had left his wife and family for a woman, then openly lived with her outside of marriage would they be making him a bishop? I don't think so.
The Catholic Church has it's problems for sure but we're taking the right steps to straighten things out.
Our doors are open.
Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams is not Catholic?
The Anglicans are not part of the Catholic Church and don't follow The Pope's mandates?
No. The Anglican Church is Protestant and not part of the Roman Catholic denomination.

That is correct the result of Henry VIII forcing a split with the RCC because he was not granted a divorce from one of his wives.
