Skip to comments. The Truth about Iraq!
Posted on 02/24/2005 5:26:06 PM PST by SteveYoung
We have set up a site with many letters direct from Iraq. These Letters Home tell the truth about the good things our solders are doing today in Iraq!
Frustrated with all the bad news on Iraq, a group of patriots stateside developed The Real Iraq. This was the result of our now number one contributor simply writing a "letter home". On his first tour Randy Fritz, would send home an email letter, telling a story of the good soldiers were doing in Iraq. From the complex drilling for, and purification of water, handing out seeds to a community, or a simple toy to a Iraq child, the stories are captivating!
Way to go!
Nice website, I bookmarked it and will check in often
Check this out
Thanks guys, I felt funny about posting our own site, but the National (and World) press does not tell the truth about what is going on in Iraq.
How long has your site been up ?
Thanks for the ping Howlin.
What do you think about Jay Fiedler being cut by the Dolphins?
Excellent site, thanks for the ping. I may send to my local newsfaker
Awesome site! GREAT job! This one gets a bookmark for future visits.
Thanks for the ping! Looks like a good site!
Thanks. BTW, Congratulations on the Hall of Fame selection. :-)
Excellent - I've already read February's letters, which are great by the way, and posted a comment. Great work and thanks for the link.
When the first few emails came in from Randy, I wanted to suit up and head out. I was ready to go, after all I had a lot to offer! I was fit, could protect myself, Iraq was a country about to explode with opportunities. I was a strategic thinker with the ability to implement, a proven track record of managing companies. Even the successful one I manage now, founded 16 years ago as a bootstrap operation. A private land and sea pilot that could learn to fly any aircraft with the proper training. Surely I could help a country to grow, a country to learn, even guide a country to freedom.
I did not have a clue. I am not indestructible.
It wasnt about ME it was about THEM. It was about the brave men and woman that could protect themselves, that did not have to loose 20 pounds, that did not have to learn how to use a 9 millimeter. I would just be in the way, a liability, a millstone that would be someone elses problem.
So what could I do? I can do anything. What would be the best thing to do?
Randy needed a voice, the troops were doing great things and the press only talked about the bad things. We were fighting for the hearts and minds of the Iraq people and we are winning! No one knows it. We needed to publish a simple letter home.
The right thing to do was create TheRealIraq.org
I hope you enjoy it, I hope you contribute by writing and commenting, THEY are wrong, you and I are right!
Git over here and read this, twerp !
Awesome site **PING** ... thanks BSF!
For the rest check this out!!
Thanks Howlin for the ping.
I thought you might appreciate some feedback . .
The image below is a screen shot from:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5)
As you can see the entire site is there, but the frame that contains the scroll bar is only about 100 pixels down, this reduces most of the site into that tiny scroll window.
Freep mail me if you'd like more info.
Thanks for the ping, Howlin!
Welcome to FreeRepublic, Steve. Thank you for sharing your awesome website with us. What a great idea!
Thanks for the ping...can't wait to check it out....are you two related?
I don't think so :-), Young is a common name, But I know someone named Steve Young here in Maryland
What a great idea for a blog. We are STARVED for real information on Iraq and this will go a long way towards feeding that hunger.
A first rate idea! Let's see the Lefties stand up to the onslaught of facts this will place in the hands of the people. The truth will not be suppressed!
Just thought maybe he was one of your brothers...
We have only been up for 3 weeks. We did some local PR the first week and got 4 papers on the front page, and one TV station, all just local. Kathy and I do a lot of local public service and donations, so that gave us a hook.
We did take the emails provided to us from people in Iraq over the last year and one half and input them to give it depth.
One of the brief letters from Iraq:
"I had chow with a soldiers from one of the FOBs (Forward Operating Base). He has two children under 5 at home. His wife sent him a message that the roof was leaking and she had no idea what to do. He told her to just go to Home Depot and ask them to recommend a contractor. Not only did they recommend a contractor, Home Depot donated the roofing material and paid the cost of the labor. Our enlisted soldiers here in Iraq, especially the reserve and National Guard, take a tremendous pay cut to be here. A leaky roof breaks the budget. Thanks Home Depot some where in Connecticut!"
Thanks, but I am not the same Steve Young. Although, they made a good move, dumping Fiedler. But they need a QB like our Tom Brady.
Oh, my goodness.......this is FANTASTIC!! THANK you!!
Didn't want you to miss this . . .
What a wonderful site! Bookmark for daily reading. Thanks.
Good site and a great morale and inspiration booster. Our service men and women need and deserve all the support that we can give them.
Thanks for the ping, Mike
Passing it on
come over here...
Regarding the FireFox problem, thanks. I am aware of it but have not been able to solve it. The Blog is in WordPress 1.2.2 in a inline frame under the menu system. It looks fine in Explorer and others but has this problem in Mozilla. No one at the WordPress site has found a solution (but they are all helpfull and great people). I plan on upgrading this weekend to 1.5 and hope to solve it. 98% of the browsers so far are Explorer but I use FireFox at work myself so I would like to solve the problem.
We do not do this for a living but I can not take it (the normal press) any more.
Thanks HD for taking care of that family!
P.S. where are you from?
We are from Londonderry, New Hampshire
"Live Free Or Die"
John Stark born in Londonderry, New Hampshire, August 28, 1728
On August 16th, 1777, John Stark marched his New Hampshire militia across Vermont from Brattleboro to Bennington to keep the British from raiding supplies whose loss might very well have resulted in the fall of New York.
Before the battle, Stark passionately addressed to his troops: "Yonder are the Hessians," he declared. "They were bought for seven pounds and ten pence a man. Are you worth more? Prove it! Tonight the American flag floats from yonder hill or Molly Stark sleeps a widow!"
Steve Young, God Bless this Nation!
Thanks for the ping, Howlin!
