For the longest time I used to think John Wayne was the worst actor ever (Hey I was a kid, give me a break) then I saw "The Searchers"...WOW! The guy could really act! I have been a huge fan ever since.

I remember an interview where the interviewer asked him what he thought about nudity in feature films. His response.."what, you mean pornography?"

Speaking of J.W. "The Quiet Man" is on AMC right now.

When I saw Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible I almost laughed. Come on the guy is about 5 foot 4 playing a tough guy, Humphrey Bogart got away with it but Tom Cruise is no Humphrey Bogart. He's a midget pretty boy.

Not many actors can be characterized as "Genuine" but the duke can.. No matter the venue.. honest and genuine.. very few actors I could/would say that about... John Wayne is one..
Maybe Tom Selleck too.. as I thinking right now..

Check out "Rooster Cogburn," not a "big" movie but one of my favorites. Duke and Kate at their best.

I usually watch the beginning of "The Quiet Man," whenever it's on. I love the train station scene. One of my favorite Christmas movies is "Donovan's Reef."

I believe this photo is from "The Quiet Man," but I'm not certain.

This is interesting, because I distinctly remember reading about 10 years ago that Mel Gibson had begun to surpas the duke about ten years ago.

I remember someone asked him who's side are you on, He said I'm on the right side, Makes you wonder where will the John Wayne's of today come from, to safe America and the America of our dreams.
