Megans Law allows the States discretion to establish criteria for disclosure, but compels them to make private and personal information on registered sex offenders available to the public.

Thanks for this very important link.
I looked at our state and county sites this morning too. In Florida we have DOB, photos, current address and the crime(s)they've committed. It's a very thorough data base. What was startling to me is how MANY there are in our county...in all kinds of neighborhoods. Unbelievable.
There are 123 sex offenders in my county.
Ping
I printed out the list in my county. (5 pages)
Checked out my zip here in Wa State (at the state website, not the one you sited), and it is amazing! They show pics, and give somewhat complete addresses, and even a yahoo map with their location highlighted. Very eye opening!
Mama
My town gives it all, even where they work.
It really is crazy. A few years ago, my county notified me that a level III registered sex offender was moving onto my block. He had 2 priors for molesting female children and 1 prior for breaking into a woman's home and raping her at gunpoint. The block he was moving to had: A) A church daycare with outside playground B) A middleschool C) Three single women living alone, myself included. I checked, and there was no restriction in this county for how close a registered sex offender can live to schools and playgrounds. Needless to say, I moved.
There is one woman on the list, has the same last name as another, with different address, but probably connected.
Can search by name, zipcode, or county.
Some counties have their own lists/sites.
I just found a classmate from high school on the list.
Man.
I just checked my zipcode. There are 99 registered offenders. I must pass at least 10 of their homes on one street on my way to the highway.
Worse that than, my address is 3876 and there is a sex offender at 3447. I think I am going to be sick.
My sympathies. I remember all too well that sick feeling. I really did have to move after I started being unable to sleep at night. I mean, this guy was convicted of breaking into a home at night and raping a woman at gunpoint. He had served his time in a state mental institution where he was diagnosed as a sexual psychopath. But, hey, he'd paid his debt to society so they released him with the caveat that he was highly likely to re-offend. Something really needs to change.
I was very surprised at the sheer number of convicted offenders. When I think of the ones who haven't been convicted but are out there, I have to resist the temptation to call my son and his friend to get out out of the back yard and play inside . . .
As kids we had a lot of freedom to ride our bikes, play in vacant lots, and just disappear for hours until we were hungry. Our children have been cheated of this freedom and innocence, partly by monsters such as these.
What site was that? Do they show pics for non-level 3 offenders? Our Pierce County site only shows pics for level 3's.
