He can't see videos, read documents, or read body language. At the same time, people don't want to pick on him because he's sight-challenged. I understand that, but this is a life-and-death trial. He did not need to preside over it. He did have the choice to recuse himself.

Brail, tapes, etc. I'm not out to bash blind judges altogether. The voice can reveal a lot, even more than facial expressions in most cases. But, it's hit-or-miss in a trial with many visual pieces of evidence, such as videos.

And frankly, seeing body language ought to be a requirement in a life-or-death trial.
