Jeb must act NOW, and he can, says Keyes
Governor has 'supreme executive power'

March 25, 2005
RenewAmerica staff

Thursday, Alan Keyes appeared on MSNBC's Scarborough Country with Joe Scarborough, and on Joseph Farah's national radio show, and declared that Gov. Jeb Bush not only possesses the "supreme executive authority in the state," but must act now to save Terri Schiavo.

When asked if Gov. Bush has done enough to help the disabled woman, Keyes said, "Of course not. He hasn't done anything. She is being starved to death!"

Keyes made it clear on both programs that Gov. Bush needs no permission from the courts to fulfill his statutory and constitutional duty to act in Terri's behalf, since the executive is equal to the judiciary.

Well it's not because he can't get re-elected or ruin his chances for President.

He's NOT running in FL again and said he won't run for President.

This is a good point. All this time I'd been thinking he wants to run for Prez. But he has said that's not on his to-do list. Or does he think a post-2008 run wouldn't count?

I am beginning to see this for what it is. I hope and pray to God I'm wrong. We'll soon see if the media picks this up and runs with it......(I also believe in Santa Claus). :(

I don't agree. Just like the protests in Lebanon got the Syrians out, a mass protest in Florida would have stopped this. Taking Terri Schiavo a glass of water was precisely the kind of civil disobedience that we needed to stop this. The problem was that there were not enough people who did that. Guys are sitting in front of their computers complaining about this judge, but they aren't doing anything about it. They should be in the streets showing the world that they aren't going to take it.

If it was clear that the people would defy the courts, then the courts would have backed down. The problem is that both the courts and the Governor know that the courts have the upper hand in this confrontation. Bush is smart enough not to attack when his hand is insufficient.

Well, I'm certainly not just sitting behind a keyboard.

To anyone who cares,

I have left the GOP, pending the Governor of Florida and/or the President the United States acting according to their sworn oaths to uphold our constitutions and innocent human life by simply giving Terri Schiavo a drink of water.

I hope and pray fervently that the Governor and/or the President and their political advisors make my decision moot by acting to save this dying American citizen today.

Those who won't act to prevent a murder in progress, when they have the power to do so, deserves no patriotic American's political support ever again.

Feel free to pass this news along to anyone in any way you feel would be appropriate.

If the conservatives abandon their own leaders, then they are going to be back in the minority in 2006.

Of course, I have no objection to electing leaders who are more conservative. But the Bushes are the best we've been able to do. Afterall, we are only a little bit more than 50% of the electorate. If you're not happy with the result, it's not the fault of GW Bush or Jeb. It's our fault for not being able to get stronger leaders elected.

But Jeb got the best legal advice available. . .from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

No, seriously, he's stunning.

Jeb got a sex change operation and/or is getting his legal advice from "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy".

The way you deal with Judge Because I Said So is be Governor Because I Said So.

Rambo has nothing to do with it. This is real-life, not celluloid; it's murder, and when the director yells cut one actor is left.

Well, I understand he does need a window in the law to do this. He had one earlier today but he had insufficient forces to meet El Presidente Greer's Banana Republic of Clearwater Posse.

If he can find another window, Jeb should get the National Guard and (via Dubya) the Marines. A tank or two in Clearwater ought to get the point across nicely.

Brother, Where Art Thou?

POTUS has access to a good deal of hardware--and AG Reno got 42 to waive posse comitatus on the basis of outright lies.

One would think Captain Mission Accomplished could tell Carl Rove to take his mealy-mouth advisement and stuff it.

This event shall not be forgot.

bump...I have been trying to find those briefs. Thanks! Looks like Jeb has plenty of legal and moral reasons to step in but has chosen not to. I'm disappointed.

......"moral reasons to step in but has chosen not to. I'm disappointed.".......

First let me say, I want her to live, at ALL costs! But having said that, taking emotion out of the question, what would we think if a dimwit dem was govenator. Hypothetical----Lets say a dimwit is in office and a judge decree's something the dems don't like, like require Bible study in school maybe. How would we feel if he called out the Nat Gaurd to arrest teachers trying to do what they have been told to do by the courts. THe problem is not Jeb Bush, the problem is Greer. Impeachment should have started brfore Easter break. We have a pretty good system if we have moral, competent, people in office. The problem arose when Greer failed to make proper judgements. I think they believe Greer has to be caught shoplifting or something to be removed. His judgements(plural) should be called into question and examined by the body that is empowered to do so( congress). I don't think anyone can be more upset than I am, but asking Jeb to go against the machine is quite alot.( I would have because be govenor is not a bigh deal to me, I have a life other than politics).

This has been on FR for a couple of years at least. Have we done at least as much as we are expecting Jeb to do? Have the media been filled in on all the facts before last week? Frankly, the Shindler's lawyer and the people that want her alive probably never thought it would come to this. Did Micheal ever take a polygraph? Why not? Why is the case sealed in court? Did the EMT's call the cops the day they picked up Terry? What did the investigation find out? Why can't we know if there is a death policy involved? Why did Micheal wait 7 years to claim she wanted to die? Why did he ask for $20 million to take care of her the rest of her life if she wanted to die? There are about 50 more questions that should have been answered already, but haven't even been asked by Terry's lawyer or the media.

People are starting to see just how rotten this guy is now that he wants her creamated and burried in HIS family plot in Penn. Here he is with another woman, and he wants to control her even in death. The problem is, when people find this stuff out it's too late for Terry. Asking Jeb to haul the whole load is a little unfair. We would cheer if he did, but probably end up with a Castro lover to take his place after impeachment. We forget the place is crawling with Marxists.

If Bush runs for prez, are we going to vote for Hilderbeast?
