After Defeats Schiavo Parents Tell Supporters Go Home
AP - Yahoo ^ | March 26, 2005 | Jane Sutton

Bob and Mary Schindler, both practicing Catholics, urged dozens of supporters gathered outside the Florida hospice where Schiavo is being cared for to go home for Easter.

"The family would request that everyone go home, be with your children, hold them close and share every moment you have with them," said Brother Paul O'Donnell, a Franciscan monk who is a spiritual adviser to the Schindlers.

It was not clear if the Schindlers had finally abandoned all legal avenues in their fight to restart their 41-year-old daughter's feeding, a cause that embroiled the Florida legislature, the U.S. Congress and President Bush.

...Likewise the feds - - they don't want to keep public focus on an issue that the Bushes hope will go away quickly.

You really think so? LOL Jeb will always have my vote if he runs.

MS lives to torture the schindlers. Denying communion is bad but hey, the man is killing their daughter by his actions. So this latest cruely is small compared to his larger ones.

I wonder what they will all do when thisis over. I predict MS will spend his life making money off this, he will never work again. His wife will leave him if he doesn't make a lot of dough because he is a dumb bully with a big vicious steak. The schindlers will not recover.

It is all so sad.

AP News is reporting that the husband has denied Terri communion on Easter.

That is true, they actually have a "court appointed" priest to see her, from what Michael Slimebag's attorney said earlier, they probably won't let a priest near her. I doubt that that is even true.

How dare them take this last request from Terri's parents. Sickening.

This is soooooooo very sad. We pray for Terri and her mom, dad and immediate family.

God bless this family and give them strength as they endure all of this.

And yes Dear Lord, please bless this Nation as we thank You for the gifts You have given to all of us.

I understand the sentiment, but this isn't the season to fall victim to defeatism.

It's a season of Hope. Resurrected Life. Victory over Death. Could be a chance for renewal, IF people are willing to keep fighting long after the MSM abandons coverage.

I pray God comforts her family.

He also obliquely thanked public opinion and pollsters for driving down Bush's numbers because of this. I don't have the exact quote, but he was also crowing about polls. I can't believe that acros the board, GWB's JA went -25 (Rasmussen) to -5/6% (Most other polls). It's sick that tjis incident is hurting the party trying to save her life so much.

"AP News is reporting that the husband has denied Terri communion on Easter."

Why isn't THIS ISSUE being taken to the bank.

Isn't this Michael (an atheist) denying Terri's freedom of religion? Catholic

We are on the seventh day, the Sabbath. Terri being Catholic has always wanted to keep the Sabbath holy and receive the eucharist. He may want to starve her to death BUT HE CANNOT deny her the eucharist every seven days WHILE SHE LIVES.

I predict that THIS should be the over-step that the evil ones have done and get her taken out of the hospice by the state of FL.

CAN YOU HEAR ME JEB ?

I disagree, I don't think anyone will touch this guy with a 10 foot pole.

Besides I think he is to stupid to write a book.

"I'm willing to bet inside a year, one of those priests will be presiding at Michael's wedding."

Seeing that he isn't Roman Catholic, I don't think so. I don't understand RC practices, but I did read that Terri had to get some sort of permission to marry Michael Schiavo who is not a RC. Maybe some of our Catholic posters here could explain this better than myself.

He is denying her The Last Rites as well, simply because it includes Communion.

My level of digust has never been so high.

I'm not a lawyer, but would it not be possible for the Schindlers to immediately file a wrongful death lawsuit after Terri passes, and insist that her body not be cremated as it might provide evidence?

It doesn't take a lawyer to know how that would play out. Greer enters an order for the body to be cremated and the local SS detachment will do it immediately. Not even the President of the United States could prevent it, just as he was powerless to stop execution of Greer's death warrant.
