Away from it all, taking it nice and easy is just how Terry Green likes to spend his time on his ATV in the deserts west of Tucson.
"We've hardly ever run into anybody else riding quads out here, Green said. "We're not out here turning donuts and whatnot, we're out here kind of sightseeing."
Green has known these deserts for decades, but that doesnt mean hes letting his guard down. He carries both a pistol and a rifle when he rides.
"It's like the Boy Scouts. Be prepared. Usually you have weapons, you don't need them. It's when you don't have weapons you wish you did, Green said.
A few weeks ago, Green wasn't sure whether he would need his guns or not when he met something he had never seen before head on.
"We basically came face to face, they stopped, we stopped, just for a moment I think the driver thought I was Border Patrol and half the people jumped off the truck and headed north, the other half headed south, Green said.
Green estimates there were as many as forty people who gathered back to the truck, and let him take this picture to the left. He believes they were illegal immigrants.
"What else would they be? There weren't 40 of them out there in a pickup truck for a picnic, Green said.
Green's encounter was peaceful, but, it still illustrates his concern about what's going on in the deserts outside of town, and the safety of those who choose to go out there.
"What if these had been drug smugglers? That would have been a whole different scenario, Green said.
With all those possibilities, Green still keeps criss-crossing the deserts west of town, which are lands he claims just as much right to as anyone else.
"I'm not much at running away from a fight. What are you going to do? I'm not going stay home in my backyard, Green said.
Especially when he's just as much at home in a backyard open to everyone.
Green said that he tried to contact authorities after seeing the truckload of people; however, he was out of cell range. The U.S. Border Patrol has a number to call to report illegal immigrant smuggling, at
1-877-USBP-HELP.
It sure is!
Gonna have to remember that one for future reference. ;-)
GWB says he has the answer - make them citizens. Then all we have to do is wait for the next 10 million to come.
Not everyone can drop everything to go spend a month in the desert. I would imagine there are plenty who would like to go, but can't. Count me as one.
He never said that and you know it. Can't you people go one thread without making up some kind of lie?
The person who would support such an idea would be the goddess of the anti-immigration crowd, Hillary Clinton.
is that a CHe-VEE?
The criminal on the right appears to be armed...
I'll wager those uniform sized packs don't contain farm tools...
Wrong, you fool. If somebody did what you suggested, they would be arrested. And no, the members of the Minuteman Project aren't going to the border with rifles in order to stop illegal aliens from crossing. They will be observing, and if they spot any illegal aliens, they'll contact the Border Patrol to come gather up the invaders.
I'm afraid every time he opens his mouth on this issue he does indeed encourage another flood of illegals into our country. There are a number of very positive things the President has done in other areas, but he is making an absolute mess out of the illegal alien issue.
Sorry, but I call this AMNESTY, reward for lawbreakers.
"To: Cultural Jihad; Travis McGee
Needless to say, if you believed your own rhetoric you would be rushing to the border with a rifle to repel the supposed "invasion" rather than bloviating on the internet. Travis has already served his country as a Navy SEAL. Which branch of the military did you serve in?

When and if Cultural Jihad shows up again, this same question should be repeated until it is answered.
This will be Bush's "Legacy".
Times a million.
"This country has lost control of its borders.
And no country can sustain that kind of position."
RONALD WILSON REAGAN
What a great man he was. He never thought about the political effects when he spoke. He was the very best President I believe.
GREAT REAGAN QUOTES:
"The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'"
"A Hippie is someone who walks like Tarzan, looks like Jane and smells like Cheetah."
"I've noticed that everybody who is for abortion has already been born."
"The last bunch of pickets were carrying signs that said 'Make love, not war.' The only trouble was they didn't look capable of doing either."
"When you see all that rhetorical smoke billowing up from the Democrats, well, ladies and gentleman, I'd follow the example of their nominee: don't inhale." (Republican National Convention, 1992)
Tucson and the environs West of it are much further North (60 miles) than the Minutemen will be operating. They're going to be down close to the border, like near Naco and Douglas.
Oh, THANK YOU for posting those quotes.
He was the best.
No doubt about it.
Hey you! :)
Yeah, but that's history and we can't change it.
I think our borders need sealing.
POTUS missed the golden oportunity on 9/12/01.
