Schiavo Kin: Parents Not Wanted at Burial
Guardian ^ | 3/31/05 | MICHAEL RUBINKAM

Associated Press Writer

LEVITTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Terri Schiavo's ashes will be buried in an undisclosed location near Philadelphia so that her immediate family doesn't show up and turn the burial into a media spectacle, a member of the Schiavo family said Thursday.

``If Mike knew they would come in peace, he would have no problem with it,'' Scott Schiavo, Michael Schiavo's brother, said during an interview at his home.

After an autopsy, Michael Schiavo plans to have his wife's body cremated and her ashes brought to Pennsylvania, where she grew up. Scott Schiavo said the ashes would be buried in a plot left by an aunt and uncle, but the family does not plan on providing the specficic location for the burial - underscoring the bitterness of the dispute.

Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, had fought for years to prevent her feeding tube from being removed, and they opposed cremation and wanted her buried in Florida.

Neither Terri Schiavo's parents nor her siblings addressed the issue of her burial in their remarks to reporters in Florida on Thursday. A spiritual adviser to her parents, Paul O'Donnell, said they plan to hold a Roman Catholic Mass without her body sometime next week.

Scott Schiavo said he received a stream of calls Thursday from people denouncing him. On his answering machine was a message from a man from Texas who called the Schiavo family murderers.

Police made visits Thursday to both Scott Schiavo's home and the home of his brother, William, in Philadelphia, as a result of threats to the families.

Scott Schiavo expressed relief that his sister-in-law's ordeal was over, and anger at those who have attacked the Schiavo family.

``This isn't over by a long shot, We're going to get our name right,'' he said. ``The world is going to know who Mike was, they're going to know Mike wasn't a beast.''

At Terri Schiavo's alma mater, Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster, workers changed a sign that read ``Terri Schiavo, Class of 1981, We pray that you may live'' to ``We pray that you rest in peace.''

How can this monster continue to spit on Catholics, and on God, and continue to get away with it?!

If this were any other religion other than Catholicism, the world would be up in arms. Why not for us Catholics? When are we going to stop laying down and taking it? Doesn't everyone see that this is not only about Terri's human rights, it's also about religious discrimination.

Making allegations of wife-beating for seven years without any evidence is pretty abominable in my book.

Maybe the Schindlers know something that the rest of us don't. You can know something and still not have proof. And regardless, with everyday that passes, it seems that MS finds a new way to prove that he's not the hero of this story.

I hope he does. Michael would have to take the stand in any such lawsuit, and that's one thing he can't afford to do.

You better hope and pray that's the case. You know why?

Free Republic--and the shrillest Terribots--will be "joint and severally liable" defendants.

If Michael had ever shown up at any of his depositions, he could have rebutted such claims. Wonder why he didn't?

The name Michael Schiavo or "to Schiavo someone" or "what a Schiavo this guy is" etc., etc. has already entered the English lexicon. Your name Schiavo now ranks BELOW Lewnisky.

How about the verb "to greer"?

Regarding the Schlinders going to the funeral:
``If Mike knew they would come in peace, he would have no problem with it,'' Scott Schiavo, Michael Schiavo's brother, said during an interview at his home.

Now compare that to the Schlinders on tv today asking for forgiveness for their wrongs and for God to forgive the Schiavos for they "know not what they do".

Doesn't seem as though the Schlinders are anything BUT peaceful. The Schiavos on the other hand are full of contempt and seem to want to hurt the Schlinders (and Fr. Pavone) as much as possible. That's my observation.

To demand sainthood of Michael Schiavo, while giving the Schindlers a pass on their abominable conduct, is a tad much.

I'm no saint and I will allow my husband's ex to attend his funeral. I despise the woman, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice for the good of both families. It seems that Michael is not.

WHy is no-one fighting for the religious rights of this poor woman? Terri was a CATHOLIC and as such, should have a CATHOLIC funeral.

(Unless Michael suddenly remembers a conversation they had "in passing while watching TV" where she said she didn't want a Catholic burial./sarcasm)

Don't worry about us getting your name right. We've already got your number.

And hey, Scott, lots of luck to you on that last part.

You said it. I believe it. do you know MS??? sounds like it.

No, I don't know him.

But, if you were accused of being a wife-beater for seven years straight on the Internet, would you invite the accuser to any social occasion?

Interesting use of the word was... apparently Mike used to be something other than what he is now. Take a look at this web site and decide for yourself. Detecting Deception Through Statement Analysis

Interesting site, though I found at least one bit I'm not so sure of:

# "As I was walking home last night I could hear someone following me."
"I could hear" is future tense. "I heard" is past tense.
How is the conditional "future tense"? To my mind, saying "I could hear someone following me" has a different meaning from "I heard someone following me". The latter would suggest that there was a distinct moment in time when the speaker noticed the sound of the person following, and the person did not physically hear the sound prior to noticing it. The former would suggest that the person started physically hearing the sound of the person following before they took notice of it. Rather a different meaning justifying the different phraseology.
