Rather digusting, but certainly not a CBS first.
If proven true, it would not surprise me.
The media's liberal ideological, psychological warfare against the U.S. is hard for many people to grasp in atheoretical sense, yet people can easily identify and relate to something more concrete.
If the reporter picked up a gun and became an enemy combatant under the ROE, the soldiers were justified at shooting him, and not just by "accident" either.

RE: this story, I found it really interesting that of Fox it was reported as a "freelance" cameraman for CBS---does that mean that CBS is already trying to distance from their own employee?
Does this mean that the reporter will be given a golden retirement and be hailed as a leader in his field? Once he gets beyond this legal mumbo-jumbo of working for the enemy, of course.

BTW, If he picked up an AK and clearly became an enemy combatant, whether an indiginous Iraqi or sympathetic leftist American journalist, I would hope that a Marine sniper would have taken him out with a single shot from a 50 cal BMG and ended the threat.
