Can we impeach the real fraud here, Roosevelt, for foisting the Ponzi scheme on us in the first place?

You can't impeach a dead horse (to mix a metaphor a bit) Maybe we could indite Elanor's ghost, Senator Clinton has been known to talk with her, so the Good Senator should know where to find her.

"And so a lot of people say there's too much personal freedom. When personal freedom's being abused, you have to move to limit it. That's what we did in the announcement I made last weekend on the public housing projects, about how we're going to have weapon sweeps and more things like that to try to make people safer in their communities."
-=(U.S. President Bill Clinton, MTV's "Enough is Enough," 4/19/94)=-

I guess this wasn't an impeachable offense, because it was a Democrat announcing his violation of several of the articles of the Bill of Right

Isn't Rangel on the hot seat now due to some campaign $$ use? Expect more of his drivel in the days to come.

LBJ took the separate Social Security fund and placed it into the US General fund

LBJ did no such thing. The money always went into the National De-, I mean General Fund. He simply did away with the fiction that there was some sort of money sitting in a "lockbox" somewhere.

Short term, it made his spending palatable. Long term, he made it harder to hide the Ponzi scheme that Social Security is.

Every person that uses the phrase "separate Social Security fund" is contributing to the efforts of the Democrats to raise taxes and spending, rather than fix the problem.

Raising more money now will just raise the debt level in the future!

BINGO, This should be the mantra of every Republican.

When I heard what Rangel said I laughed and shook my head. He's playing to the idiots who hate Bush, nobody else. Sad thing is that he has an audience with that crap.

There is an ad running heavily right now that is really despicable and seems coordinated with Rangel's attack.

Paid for by ProtectYourCheck.org it starts with a shot of an iceberg getting closer, talks about Bush's plan to privatize Sosh Security, shows an elderly man taking a tan envelope out of his mailbox while a script reads CHECKS CUT ALMOST IN HALF.

The retirement you're earning TAKEN AWAY.
etc
etc

Other faces are a sad-looking very old veteran, a middle-aged worried black man, etc etc

saying it would hurt black Americans disproportionately.

I guess the average life expectancy of blacks has taken a big uptick since last week.

%%%%%

The only reason that I can imagine for this criticism from Cong Black Caucus members is that they are trying to float an idea that the higher proportion (by race) of disablility and survivor benefits that go to blacks now, will be cut under President Bush's plan.

This is out and out lying, because no one has said ANYTHING about changing the payout of disability and survivor benefits.
