2.8 million Iraqis’ petition warns of Iran domination

Iran Focus:
Leaders and representatives of 11 Iraqi political parties and groups unveiled a petition signed by 2.8 million Iraqis, sharply criticising neighbouring Iran’s rising meddling in Iraq and warning of the spectre of “Islamic fundamentalism’s stealthy domination” of their country.
The announcement came in a conference yesterday in Baghdad’s Palestine Hotel in the presence of about 500 Iraqis representing political, social and cultural groups. The signatures were put on display in long rows of folders.

Iraqi signatories included ethnic Arabs, Kurds, and Turkmen, from different religious backgrounds, including Sunni Muslims, Shiite Muslims, Christians, and people of other faiths.

The Iranian regime is pursuing a very dangerous course in Iraq,” Sheikh Ali Al-Shammari, a Shiite tribal leader from southern Iraq said. “We, as Iraqis who value our independence, feel we must speak out as strongly as possible against this undeclared war by Iran on our people and quasi-occupation of Iraqi territories by Tehran through their surrogates.”

The petition offered strong support to the main Iranian opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI). Thousands of PMOI members are based at Camp Ashraf, near the Iran-Iraq border.

Sorry for being behind on events, but what exactly is he referring to here? Does Iran have people in the Iraqi government itself?

As we wrap things up in Iraq, and Iraq sharpens the long knives for war with Iran... our focus as their allies will turn to 'assisting' them in overthrowing the mullahs next door. We will be ready to leave just in time to attack Iran's centers of power. May in fact, be doing so already... via special forces.

despite the pleas, there will be NO peaceful transition of power in Iran, nor will it reform from within.

Islamism is incapable of self-reform. As is any government that takes its path.
A bloody coupe-de-etats is on the way, and the only way.

Iran Focus seems to be running ads for MEK with every article they publish.

Notice how they reported "thousands" at that convention last week and the NY Sun reported 300?

No, I don't think so. They went through an 8 yr war against each other, and over a million people died. Rekindling that animosity would be a big mistake. Neither side wants to get involved in that.

Isn't that IRAN FOCUS web site an MEK related one?

They have 'surrorgates'.

My money is on Sadaar in particular. Hes always been trouble and I don't think we've heard the last of him. Hes good buddies with the mad mullahs.

They are still going around beating people and threatening people, trying to enfoce all kinds of 'islamic standards' at the universities in the South... even killed 2 kids a few weeks back.

Their response to questions and protests was a thinly vieled threat that the people to 'saw such things, should come forward themselves', followed by a comment how they brought it on themselves anyway and deserved it and better be more careful if they are so worried about it.

Anyway things like that are suspected to be all payrolled from Iran (though Syria is the main 'condiut' for people and arms)
