Maybe the feminist founders found that their special day never succeeded in teaching little girls that their stay-at-home mothers were total losers.

My husband always complains that the "Take-Your-Child to Work Day" has turned into a party atmosphere where everyone eats cake and hands out candy. Little work actually gets done, and the kids stand around and look at office machinery that they've seen the year before. The kids come away with the impression that no one works at "work." It doesn't justifies another lost school day, especially for kids who can't remember where Utah is, or ask what Daddy did in the Civil War.

My husband takes the kids to work on Saturday mornings, between Bible Study and racquetball. They watch dad work, get the impression he likes them hanging around, and still get to swipe candy from the little bowls on the secretaries' desks.

Whose ball did the feminists take?

Their own. They're the ones who invented "Take you Daughter to Work Day."

"Whose ball did the feminists take?"

Apparently, they took the Republicans in congress balls since they aren't using them anyway...

Our company still has it, but I haven't actually seen any kids today -- I think they're being kept in a designated area. I think the whole thing is a silly waste of time. It would be a great idea to encourage parents to bring their children to work once or twice year, on an individual basis, when it's convenient for the parent. Then the kids would get some realistic impression of what the workplace is like. Instead they come to a place with a mob of other children, where a couple of young women from HR or PR departments are hosting a big children's party.
