Every nominee dserves an up or down vote!!!

Sorry for the vanity, but this whole entire filibuster of presidential nominees gets me so angry. There is a simple message in all of this garbage going on. Every person that Bush nominates for any court, department, agency, etc., is mandated by the constitution to get an up or down vote on the senate floor. This is the case even if the nominees do not make it through commitiee. Committe hearings on nominees are constitutional to get information on them, but unlike legislation, they cannot at the end prevent the Senate from voting up or down on the nominee!!! This is the simple message we need to get to Congress!!!

I wrote my Senator. Sorry folks it's Senator Voinovich. I'm from Ohio. But I decided to let him know how I feel about what he did with Bolton in my own little round about zinger but nice way. Plus I really do hope he will let the dems know how I feel about them also.

Here's what I wrote:

Dear Senator Voinovich,

I'm wondering if you would give a message to the Democrats up there in Washington for me.

Tell them I wrote a song a few months back just for them. Tell them they can listen to it here:
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/writePage.cfm?myType=music&bandid=41129&bandnamesave=gloriajane

Tell them to scroll down the page to the fifth song down. Tell them it's called: "Democrats Stop Playing Your Block And Blame Game!"

Just kidding! I know you wouldn't give it to them but I thought that as a Republican you might get a kick out of hearing how we Republicans out here in fly over country in Ohio feel about what's been going on in Washington with the Dem's obstructing everything from Bolton's appointment to Judges to you name it they obstruct it.

Have a good one!
Gloria Jane

Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), a leading advocate of the “nuclear option” to end the Democrats’ filibuster of judicial nominees, is privately arguing for a delay in the face of adverse internal party polls.

One thing we need to be clearer on, especially with the Bolton nomination being held up, its not just judicial nominees that deserve an up or down vote, but all presidential nominees. So we should stop saying stop the filibuster of "judicial nominees and instead say "presidential nominees" period. After all, the clause in the constitution that we are referring to in this debate mentions any type of nominee:

"The President ... shall nominate, and by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint ... judges of the Supreme Court, and all other officers of the United States, whose appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by law, but the Congress may by law vest appointment of such inferior officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the deads of departments."

You are right, of course, but I'll be happy if we can just get some judges. They are trying to run the clock out on us, waiting for the pubbies to lose control of the house or the presidency. We still don't have control of the Senate, so we can't lose it.
