And, if there is no "Laura Rule" on FR, IMHO, there should be one!
Her cancer was similar to mine, in that the cancerous area could have spread through the lymph nodes to other parts of the body. I had the surgery, and "close observation" to confirm that it hadn't spread to the lymph nodes. Because it hadn't spread, I didn't have chemo/radiation.
If it is determined that is hasn't spread, there's no need for chemo.
I posted on yesterday's thread about my 33 year old sister's decision to opt for a double mastectomy due to her cancer and BRCA positive status, and the subsequent finding of pre-cancerous and in-situ cancer in her healthy breast. She now has an excellent prognosis.
I don't think anyone believes a mastectomy should be "automatic", but I do think the jury is still out on the relative efficacy of mastectomy vs. lumpectomy and it is a reasonable choice for some higher risk patients. I would have supported whatever decision my sister had made. It is a horrible choice to be faced with, but I don't want those who opt for mastectomy to feel further stigmatized by feeling that they are somehow "damaged" or "altered". My sister's infant son and the rest of her family consider her just as much a whole person as she ever was and we are simply grateful to God that she will be with us, hopefully for a long time to come.
Yes, i read your post yesterday. My comment here now was not referring to you.
I agree with your views entirely. It seems the doctors did an excellent job!
Testicular cancer and breast cancer are not the same, and are treated differently. She may or may not decide to have chemo or radiation depending on receptor status, etc. She seems pretty young to me - the younger you are the more aggressive breast cancer tends to be. Does anybody know her age?

Laura Ingraham underwent what has been called successful surgery yesterday, Veteran radio talk show host Barry Farber filled in for Laura on Wednesday and during the first half hour of the show gave this update:
"Laura Ingraham, thank God, is fine [and] resting comfortably after successful surgery." Farber also mentioned that the surgery was "performed early."
He also confirmed that Laura will be back on the air live on Thursday.

This is an idea, maybe someone can run with it...she does an ad from time to time with some florist, I think it's ProFlowers.com. There's some kind of way to get a discount by using her name, and I think there's some microphone to click, on the florist's homepage.
Why not go there, or call there, and see if there is a way to send flowers to Laura, using the same company for which she advertises? I'm sure she'd love it.
Also, for those who have Laura 365 or Hannity Insider memberships, her calls to both shows yesterday (first 15 minutes of her show, and the first 30 minutes of Hannity's third hour) were classics, guaranteed to make you tear up.
She's a fighter, FReepers, keep up the prayers.
Just turned 40 last year.
Just by being herself is what she does. Aside from her politital views and ultra smarts, she is friendly and unaffected. That is what draws people to her. She has earned all those 'wraps'!! I'm delighted by the good news!

I was trying to figure out how old she was a while back, and I found two birthdates for her 1/1/65 and 1/1/63. I think the 63 one is probably correct, but I can't remember why I think that. If so, she would be 42 now.
(I was trying to figure it out, because I am in my late 30's and single, and I am sometimes curious about these things!)
Strange words, indeed.

"What is the sentinel lymph node?
A sentinel lymph node is the first lymph node into which a tumor drains, and is the first place cancer cells are most likely to spread. In some cases, there can be more than one sentinel node. In breast cancer, for instance, the sentinel node is usually located in the axillary nodes (the lymph nodes under the arm)."
